PRAYER VIGIL FOR PEACE | In response to the call of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, during his Urbi et Orbi Easter Message, Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” S. Uy invites the faithful to hold a Prayer Vigil for Peace on April 11, 2026 (Saturday), from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in all parish churches and chapels.

In his letter, Archbishop Abet reminds everyone to entrust our longing for peace to God, asking Him to touch hearts, guide leaders, and end violence, especially in war-torn nations.

“In these times when our world is wounded by violence, conflict, and uncertainty, we are called as a Church to respond not with fear, but with faith,” he said.

The one-hour vigil may be observed as follows:
🕯️ 8:00–8:30 PM – Praying of the Holy Rosary and the Litany of the Saints
🕯️ 8:30–9:00 PM – Silent Adoration and personal prayer (with the exposed Blessed Sacrament, if possible)

Let us come together as one Church—praying not only with our lips, but with hearts open to peace, and lives ready to become instruments of Christ’s love.

At 10:00 PM, the Via Matris procession of Mater Dolorosa was also prayerfully held. In this devotion, the faithful walked together with the Blessed Mother, reflecting on her seven sorrows as she witnessed and endured the pain and suffering of her Son, Jesus Christ. Each station became a moment of silence, prayer, and deep reflection, allowing everyone to enter into the sorrowful journey of Mary with humility and faith.

As the procession continued, candles lit the way, symbolizing hope even in the midst of darkness and grief. The prayers, hymns, and quiet footsteps of the devotees created a solemn and heartfelt atmosphere, reminding all of the strength, love, and unwavering trust of the Blessed Mother in God’s will. It was a powerful expression of unity, compassion, and devotion, as the community came together as one in prayer.

On April 3, 2026 (Friday), the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and Death was solemnly observed, the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. The liturgy included the Liturgy of the Word, the Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion, inviting the faithful to pause, reflect, and remember the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and His boundless love for all. In silence and prayer, the community gathered as one in faith, honoring the mystery of our salvation.

After the celebration, a solemn procession of the Santo Entiero took place, symbolizing the burial of our Lord. The image of the lifeless body of Christ was carried through the streets, accompanied by prayers and devotion from the faithful, creating a moment of reflection. It served as a reminder of the sorrow of that day, as well as the hope that comes with His promise of resurrection.

𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂 2026 | The Mass of the Lord’s Supper was been prayerfully celebrated, reminding us of the love and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. The start of the Paschal Triduum—the three most sacred days of the Church where we reflect on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. During the celebration, the Washing of the Feet was also done, showing us the importance of humility, service, and caring for one another just as Jesus did to His disciples.

A short and solemn procession took place for the transfer of the Holy Eucharist to the Altar of Repose. This moment invites all the faithful to stay, pray, and reflect in silence, as we accompany the Lord in His time of sacrifice. May this sacred celebration guide us to deepen our faith and devotion during this Holy Week.

Earlier today, on Spy Wednesday, we walked together in the Pasus Procession, where each paso showed the story of Jesus’ suffering, sacrifice, and great love for us; as one community, we prayed and reflected. In a special way, we also thank all the volunteers, servers, parishioners, camareros, and barangay personnel for their time and effort in making this meaningful tradition possible—may we continue to carry His love in our hearts.

Yesterday, as we marked Holy Monday, we were reminded to continue our journey of faith with prayer, repentance, and devotion during this sacred season of Lent.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the families who generously prepared and facilitated each station during yesterday’s Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross).
