Pointillism art - technique of painting in wc small, distinct dots in patterns to form an image.. teaches us lessons about perspective, patience, and cumulative power of small actions..
Like what the Bible taught us
THE LESSON OF PERSPECTIVE
Genesis 37-50 The Story of Joseph the Dreamer where his life is the ultimate "Pointillist", a series of painful, disconnected dark dots: betrayed by brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused of assault, and forgotten in prison for years.
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" - Genesis 50:20
The bible teaches us to view our current struggles from the distance of eternity, like "Zooming Out" Pointillism which requires distance to see beauty.
:17-18
THE POWER OF SMALL THINGS (The dots)
In the Parable of the Mustard seed (Matthew 13:31-22) Jesus often taught that the Kingdom of God works like Pointillism: it starts with the tiniest "dot" that seems insignificant but grows into something massive.
"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin" -Zechariah 4:10
PATIENCE (Trusting the Artist)
Abraham and Sarah (Hebrews 11) Story is an example of Pointillism art which is a slow, painstaking process. Our artist (God) places one dot at a time, and often the canvas looks empty for a long time. Abraham was promised he would be the father of nations, but he has to wait 25 years for his son Isaac.
"He has made everything beautiful in its time." - Ecc. 3:11
PRAYER
"Lord, help us to trust that You are the Master Artist. When my days feel like random, messy dots, remind me of all of these, that You are weaving a bigger picture I cannot yet see, that my small acts of faithfulness matter and give me patience to wait for the image to emerge. AMEN"
