MY SALUTE TO THIS MAN.
—————————————
For 13 years in the priesthood, it had been a common sight that after the blessing of the sponsors, the floor would simply be left wet, unnoticed and unattended. Many would walk past it, thinking it was someone else’s responsibility. But this man was different. The moment he saw that the floor was wet, he did not hesitate. Without being asked, without seeking attention or praise, he quietly took a mop and cleaned the floor, simply because he was concerned that someone might slip and get hurt.
What touched me deeply was not just the act itself, but the heart behind it. It was a small gesture in the eyes of the world, yet it revealed a profound sense of care, humility, and genuine love for others. He did not see himself above such a task. Instead, he saw a need and responded with compassion.
This, for me, is the true meaning of celebrating Christmas. It is not found in grand decorations, long programs, or beautiful words alone, but in simple acts of service done with love. It is about looking after others, especially in the little things that often go unnoticed. In that quiet moment of mopping the floor, the message of Christmas came alive: serving the people and serving the Lord who chose to become human, humble, and close to us.
