16 The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
17 When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
18 Then Jesus approached and said to them, β€œAll power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

REFLECTION:
Sometimes we wait for perfect faith before answering God’s call, yet the Gospel reminds us that even those who doubted still followed Jesus to the mountain. In our weakness, uncertainty, and imperfections, Christ still entrusts us with a mission β€” to live with love, share His truth, and become witnesses of His presence in the world.

The Great Commission is not only for missionaries or saints; it is for every heart willing to follow Him daily. Jesus does not send us alone. His promise remains our strength: β€œI am with you always, until the end of the age.” In every struggle, silent prayer, and act of kindness, God walks beside us.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for calling me despite my fears and shortcomings. Help me to become a faithful witness of Your love in the way I speak, act, and serve others. Strengthen my faith when doubts arise, and remind me always that I am never alone because You are with me every day. Guide me to bring hope, peace, and compassion wherever I go. Amen.

Thank you for attending the mass! God bless us all! Have a great day ahead!

15 Jesus said to his disciples: If you love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he shall give you another Paraclete, that he may abide with you forever.
17 The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it sees him not, nor knows him: but you shall know him; because he shall abide with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while: and the world sees me no more. But you see me: because I live, and you shall live.
20 In that day you shall know, that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them; he it is that loves me. And he that loves me, shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

REFLECTION:
Love is more than words softly spoken or feelings that quickly fade. In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that real love is shown through obedience, trust, and faithfulness. Even when life becomes uncertain, He promises that we are never abandoned. His Spirit remains with us β€” guiding, comforting, and strengthening our hearts.

Sometimes we search for signs that God is near, yet His presence is often found in quiet acts of kindness, patience during struggles, and the courage to keep choosing what is right. To love Christ is to live His teachings daily, even when it is difficult. And in doing so, we discover that He has been with us all along.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, teach me to love You not only with my words but through the way I live. Help me obey Your will with a faithful heart. When I feel alone or weary, remind me that Your Spirit stays with me and never leaves me. Fill my life with peace, wisdom, and the courage to reflect Your love to others each day. Amen.

Thank you for attending the mass! God bless us all! Have a great day ahead!

1 Jesus said to his disciples: Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I shall go, and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will take you to myself; that where I am, you also may be.
4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.
5 Thomas said to him: Lord, we know not where you go; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by me.
7 Jesus said to his disciples: If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him, and you have seen him.
8 Philip said to him: Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.
9 Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you; and have you not known me? Philip, he that sees me sees the Father also. How can you say, β€˜Show us the Father’?
10 Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abides in me, he does the works.
11 Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?
12 Otherwise believe for the very works’ sake. Amen, amen I say to you, he that believes in me, the works that I do, he also shall do; and greater than these shall he do. Because I go to the Father.

REFLECTION:
In this passage, Jesus speaks directly to fear and uncertainty. His first wordsβ€”β€œLet not your heart be troubled”—feel especially human. He knows that His disciples are confused and anxious about what’s coming next. Instead of giving them a detailed explanation, He gives them something deeper: Himself.

When Jesus says, β€œI am the way, the truth, and the life,” He isn’t just pointing to a pathβ€”He is saying that the relationship with Him is the path. This shifts everything. Faith is not about figuring everything out or having all the answers. Even Thomas, who voices honest doubt, is met with patience, not rejection.

The promise of β€œmany mansions” (or dwelling places) reminds us that there is room for us in God’s presence. It speaks of belonging, not earning. Jesus reassures us that we are not forgottenβ€”he prepares a place, and he will return for us.

This passage invites trust in the middle of uncertainty. We may not always know where life is going, but we are reminded that we are not walking alone. Knowing Jesus is knowing the Fatherβ€”seeing him is seeing God’s love made visible.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, when my heart is troubled, help me trust in you. You are the way, the truth, and the lifeβ€”guide me each day. Take away my fears and fill me with your peace. Lead me closer to you, that I may know the Father. Amen.

Thank you for attending the Holy Mass. Your presence and prayers made this celebration truly meaningful. May God bless you always with peace and love.

OPEN YOUR BIBLE AND READ the Gospel reading according to Luke 24:13-35;

13 That very day, the first day of the week, two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
14 and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
15 And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
16 but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.
17 He asked them, β€œWhat are you discussing as you walk along?” They stopped, looking downcast.
18 One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, β€œAre you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?”
19 And he replied to them, β€œWhat sort of things?” They said to him, β€œThe things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
20 how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him.
21 But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place.
22 Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning
23 and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive.
24 Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see.”
25 And he said to them, β€œOh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
26 Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
27 Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures.
28 As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
29 But they urged him, β€œStay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
30 And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
31 With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight.
32 Then they said to each other, β€œWere not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
33 So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the eleven and those with them
34 who were saying, β€œThe Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”
35 Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

REFLECTION:
The story of the road to Emmaus shows how easily the disciples lost hope after Jesus’ death. Even though they had heard reports that He had risen, they were still filled with confusion and disappointment. They were walking away from Jerusalem, the place where the promise of resurrection was first announced, not realizing that Jesus Himself was already walking beside them. This reminds us that there are moments in life when we feel lost or discouraged, even when hope is already presentβ€”we just fail to recognize it.

What is striking in the Gospel is how Jesus listens before He reveals Himself. He walks with the disciples, asks them questions, and helps them express their sadness and confusion. Then He gently explains the Scriptures, showing how suffering and glory are connected. This teaches that understanding often comes gradually. Sometimes we need to hear the truth in different ways before our hearts are ready to recognize what God is doing in our lives.

The moment they finally recognize Jesus is in the breaking of the bread. It is in a simple, familiar action that their eyes are opened, and suddenly everything makes sense. But just as quickly, Jesus disappears, showing that faith is not only about physical presence but about trust and continued belief. The disciples immediately go back to Jerusalem to share the good news, showing how encountering Christ should lead to action and witness. This Gospel invites us to be more attentive to how Jesus may already be walking with us, especially in ordinary moments we might otherwise overlook.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we often fail to recognize Your presence when we are confused, discouraged, or overwhelmed by life’s struggles. Walk with us in our doubts and open our hearts to understand Your Word, so that we may see how You are always working for our good even in difficult moments. Amen.

Thank you for taking the time to read this reflection and prayer. Your attention and openness to the message of the Gospel are truly appreciated. May it help you grow in faith and remind you that God is always walking with you, even in the quiet and uncertain moments of life.

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, β€œPeace be with you.”
20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
21 Jesus said to them again, β€œPeace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, β€œReceive the Holy Spirit.
23 Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”
24 Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples said to him, β€œWe have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, β€œUnless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, β€œPeace be with you.”
27 Then he said to Thomas, β€œPut your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
28 Thomas answered and said to him, β€œMy Lord and my God!”
29 Jesus said to him, β€œHave you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book.
31 But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.2026 religious planner

REFLECTION:

In today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus appears to His disciples who were filled with fear and uncertainty. Despite the locked doors, He comes to them and offers peace. This reminds us that no barrierβ€”fear, doubt, or sinβ€”can stop Jesus from reaching us. His first gift is not judgment, but peace.

We also see the story of Thomas, who struggled to believe without seeing. Like him, we sometimes question, doubt, and seek proof. Yet Jesus meets Thomas where he is, inviting him to believe. This Gospel teaches us that faith is not about seeing first, but trusting deeply. β€œBlessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” In our daily lives, we are called to believe even when things are unclear, trusting that God is always present.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, You come to us with peace even in our fears and doubts. Strengthen our faith when we struggle to believe. Help us to trust in You without needing to see, and fill our hearts with Your mercy and love. Guide us to become instruments of Your peace to others. Amen.

Thank you for joining us this blessed Sunday! May the peace of the Risen Lord fill your hearts, strengthen your faith, and guide you throughout the week. Have a grace-filled and joyful Divine Mercy Sunday! πŸ’™

OPEN YOUR BIBLE AND READ the Gospel reading according to John 20:1-9;

1 On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, β€œThey have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.”
3 So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
4 They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first;
5 he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
6 When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
7 and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
8 Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.
9 For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead.

REFLECTION:

The empty tomb was not immediately a sign of joyβ€”it was first a moment of confusion. Mary Magdalene thought the body was taken. The disciples ran, unsure of what they would find. Even when they saw the burial cloths, understanding did not come instantly.

This reminds us that faith is not always clear at the beginning. Sometimes, it starts in doubt, in questions, in moments where things don’t make sense. Yet, despite this, they kept seeking. They ran toward the tomb, not away from it.

Easter teaches us that God works even in what feels empty or uncertain. The tomb was empty, but it was not a lossβ€”it was the beginning of something greater. In the same way, the β€œempty” and confusing moments in our lives may be where God is already revealing His victory.
Like the beloved disciple, we are called not just to see, but to believe. Even without having all the answers, we trust that Christ is alive, moving, and working in our lives.

Today, we are invited to move from doubt to faith, from fear to hope, and from simply seeing to truly believing.

PRAYER:

Risen Lord, You conquered the grave and brought light into the darkness. Like Mary Magdalene and the disciples, teach us to seek You even in moments of confusion and doubt. Strengthen our faith to believe, even when we do not fully understand. May Your Resurrection renew our hearts, fill us with hope, and lead us to share Your truth with others. Help us live as witnesses of Your victory, walking always in Your light.
Amen.

Thank you for joining us in today’s Holy Mass! May the joy of the Risen Christ renew your faith and inspire you to share His light with others. God bless you always! πŸ’›

MARCH 29, 2026 | PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD'S PASSION | LENTEN SEASON | START OF HOLY WEEK
MASS PRESIDER: REV. FR. KERVIN B. ROLDAN, PH.L., MA
MASS SCHEDULE: SUNDAY @ 8:00AM

Open your Bible and Read the Gospel reading according to Matthew 26:14-27:66;

14 One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 and said, β€œWhat are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver,
16 and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.
17 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, β€œWhere do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”
18 He said, β€œGo into the city to a certain man and tell him, β€˜The teacher says, β€œMy appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.β€β€˜β€
19 The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered, and prepared the Passover.
20 When it was evening, he reclined at table with the Twelve.
21 And while they were eating, he said, β€œAmen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, β€œSurely it is not I, Lord?”
23 He said in reply, β€œHe who has dipped his hand into the dish with me is the one who will betray me.
24 The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had never been born.”
25 Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, β€œSurely it is not I, Rabbi?” He answered, β€œYou have said so.”
26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, β€œTake and eat; this is my body.”
27 Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, β€œDrink from it, all of you,
28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 I tell you, from now on I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father.”
30 Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus said to them, β€œThis night all of you will have your faith in me shaken, for it is written:
I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be dispersed;
32 but after I have been raised up, I shall go before you to Galilee.”
33 Peter said to him in reply, β€œThough all may have their faith in you shaken, mine will never be.”
34 Jesus said to him, β€œAmen, I say to you, this very night before the c**k crows, you will deny me three times.”
35 Peter said to him, β€œEven though I should have to die with you, I will not deny you.” And all the disciples spoke likewise.
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, β€œSit here while I go over there and pray.”
37 He took along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to feel sorrow and distress.
38 Then he said to them, β€œMy soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me.”
39 He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, β€œMy Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.”
40 When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, β€œSo you could not keep watch with me for one hour?
41 Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Withdrawing a second time, he prayed again, β€œMy Father, if it is not possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done!”
43 Then he returned once more and found them asleep, for they could not keep their eyes open.
44 He left them and withdrew again and prayed a third time, saying the same thing again.
45 Then he returned to his disciples and said to them, β€œAre you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand when the Son of Man is to be handed over to sinners.
46 Get up, let us go. Look, my betrayer is at hand.”
47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd, with swords and clubs, who had come from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
48 His betrayer had arranged a sign with them, saying, β€œThe man I shall kiss is the one; arrest him.”
49 Immediately he went over to Jesus and said, β€œHail, Rabbi!” and he kissed him.
50 Jesus answered him, β€œFriend, do what you have come for.” Then stepping forward they laid hands on Jesus and arrested him.
51 And behold, one of those who accompanied Jesus put his hand to his sword, drew it, and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his ear.
52 Then Jesus said to him, β€œPut your sword back into its sheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
53 Do you think that I cannot call upon my Father and he will not provide me at this moment with more than twelve legions of angels?
54 But then how would the Scriptures be fulfilled which say that it must come to pass in this way?”
55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, β€œHave you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me? Day after day I sat teaching in the temple area, yet you did not arrest me.
56 But all this has come to pass that the writings of the prophets may be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.
57 Those who had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Peter was following him at a distance as far as the high priest’s courtyard, and going inside he sat down with the servants to see the outcome.
59 The chief priests and the entire Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death,
60 but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward
61 who stated, β€œThis man said, β€˜I can destroy the temple of God and within three days rebuild it.’”
62 The high priest rose and addressed him, β€œHave you no answer? What are these men testifying against you?”
63 But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, β€œI order you to tell us under oath before the living God whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”
64 Jesus said to him in reply, β€œYou have said so. But I tell you: From now on you will see β€˜the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power’ and β€˜coming on the clouds of heaven.’”
65 Then the high priest tore his robes and said, β€œHe has blasphemed! What further need have we of witnesses? You have now heard the blasphemy;
66 what is your opinion?” They said in reply, β€œHe deserves to die!”
67 Then they spat in his face and struck him, while some slapped him,
68 saying, β€œProphesy for us, Christ: who is it that struck you?”
69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. One of the maids came over to him and said, β€œYou too were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 But he denied it in front of everyone, saying, β€œI do not know what you are talking about!”
71 As he went out to the gate, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, β€œThis man was with Jesus the Nazorean.”
72 Again he denied it with an oath, β€œI do not know the man!”
73 A little later the bystanders came over and said to Peter, β€œSurely you too are one of them; even your speech gives you away.”
74 At that he began to curse and to swear, β€œI do not know the man.” And immediately a c**k crowed.
75 Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: β€œBefore the c**k crows you will deny me three times.” He went out and began to weep bitterly.

1 When it was morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people
took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.
2 They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate, the governor.
3 Then Judas, his betrayer, seeing that Jesus had been condemned, deeply regretted what he had done. He returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 saying, β€œI have sinned in betraying innocent blood.” They said, β€œWhat is that to us? Look to it yourself.”
5 Flinging the money into the temple, he departed and went off and hanged himself.
6 The chief priests gathered up the money, but said, β€œIt is not lawful to deposit this in the temple treasury, for it is the price of blood.”
7 After consultation, they used it to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners.
8 That is why that field even today is called the Field of Blood.
9 Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet,
And they took the thirty pieces of silver,
the value of a man with a price on his head,
a price set by some of the Israelites,
10 and they paid it out for the potter’s field
just as the Lord had commanded me.
11 Now Jesus stood before the governor, and he questioned him, β€œAre you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said, β€œYou say so.”
12 And when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he made no answer.
13 Then Pilate said to him, β€œDo you not hear how many things they are testifying against you?”
14 But he did not answer him one word, so that the governor was greatly amazed.
15 Now on the occasion of the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the crowd one prisoner whom they wished.
16 And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
17 So when they had assembled, Pilate said to them, β€œWhich one do you want me to release to you, Barabbas, or Jesus called Christ?”
18 For he knew that it was out of envy that they had handed him over.
19 While he was still seated on the bench, his wife sent him a message, β€œHave nothing to do with that righteous man. I suffered much in a dream today because of him.”
20 The chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas but to destroy Jesus.
21 The governor said to them in reply, β€œWhich of the two do you want me to release to you?” They answered, β€œBarabbas!”
22 Pilate said to them, β€œThen what shall I do with Jesus called Christ?” They all said, β€œLet him be crucified!”
23 But he said, β€œWhy? What evil has he done?” They only shouted the louder, β€œLet him be crucified!”
24 When Pilate saw that he was not succeeding at all, but that a riot was breaking out instead, he took water and washed his hands in the sight of the crowd, saying, β€œI am innocent of this man’s blood. Look to it yourselves.”
25 And the whole people said in reply, β€œHis blood be upon us and upon our children.”
26 Then he released Barabbas to them, but after he had Jesus scourged, he handed him over to be crucified.
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus inside the praetorium and gathered the whole cohort around him.
28 They stripped off his clothes and threw a scarlet military cloak about him.
29 Weaving a crown out of thorns, they placed it on his head, and a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, β€œHail, King of the Jews!”
30 They spat upon him and took the reed and kept striking him on the head.
31 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and led him off to crucify him.
32 As they were going out, they met a Cyrenian named Simon; this man they pressed into service to carry his cross.
33 And when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of the Skull),
34 they gave Jesus wine to drink mixed with gall. But when he had tasted it, he refused to drink.
35 After they had crucified him, they divided his garments by casting lots;
36 then they sat down and kept watch over him there.
37 And they placed over his head the written charge against him: This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.
38 Two revolutionaries were crucified with him, one on his right and the other on his left.
39 Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads
40 and saying, β€œYou who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, if you are the Son of God, and come down from the cross!”
41 Likewise the chief priests with the scribes and elders mocked him and said,
42 β€œHe saved others; he cannot save himself. So he is the king of Israel! Let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.
43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he wants him. For he said, β€˜I am the Son of God.’”
44 The revolutionaries who were crucified with him also kept abusing him in the same way.
45 From noon onward, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
46 And about three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, β€œEli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, β€œMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
47 Some of the bystanders who heard it said, β€œThis one is calling for Elijah.”
48 Immediately one of them ran to get a sponge; he soaked it in wine, and putting it on a reed, gave it to him to drink.
49 But the rest said, β€œWait, let us see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50 But Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, and gave up his spirit.
51 And behold, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, rocks were split,
52 tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
53 And coming forth from their tombs after his resurrection, they entered the holy city and appeared to many.
54 The centurion and the men with him who were keeping watch over Jesus feared greatly when they saw the earthquake and all that was happening, and they said, β€œTruly, this was the Son of God!”
55 There were many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him.
56 Among them were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who was himself a disciple of Jesus.
58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be handed over.
59 Taking the body, Joseph wrapped it in clean linen
60 and laid it in his new tomb that he had hewn in the rock. Then he rolled a huge stone across the entrance to the tomb and departed.
61 But Mary Magdalene and the other Mary remained sitting there, facing the tomb.
62 The next day, the one following the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate
63 and said, β€œSir, we remember that this impostor while still alive said, β€˜After three days I will be raised up.’
64 Give orders, then, that the grave be secured until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal him and say to the people, β€˜He has been raised from the dead.’ This last imposture would be worse than the first.”
65 Pilate said to them, β€œThe guard is yours; go, secure it as best you can.”
66 So they went and secured the tomb by fixing a seal to the stone and setting the guard.

REFLECTION:
In this powerful Gospel, we witness the depth of human weakness and the even greater depth of Christ’s love. From Judas’ betrayal to Peter’s denial, from unjust accusations to the suffering on the cross, Jesus is surrounded by pain, rejection, and silence. Yet, He responds not with anger, but with humility, obedience, and mercy. Every step toward Calvary reveals that His love is not dependent on human faithfulness, but rooted in divine purpose.

This passage invites us to reflect on our own moments of weaknessβ€”when we fail, doubt, or turn away. Still, Jesus continues to choose us, to carry the cross, and to offer redemption. His sacrifice reminds us that true love is not easy or convenientβ€”it is patient, self-giving, and willing to endure all things for the sake of others.

PRAYER:
Lord, in moments when I am weak or afraid, remind me of Your steadfast love. Help me to follow You with courage, to remain faithful in trials, and to trust in Your mercy. Amen.
