He knew.

Jesus knew what was happening in Judas’ heart long before it showed on the outside. He knew he would betray Him (John 13:11). He saw the divided heart, the subtle ways his love and loyalty had already begun to drift.

Yet, Jesus remained.

Instead of creating distance, He continued to extend grace. He washed Judas’ feet (John 13:5), a posture of humility and service. He shared the table with him, offering bread- an act of fellowship and acceptance. Even in the garden, at the very moment of betrayal, Jesus addressed him not with anger, but with a question that exposed the heart (Luke 22:48). Though His grace met Judas, he still chose to turn away.

And this reveals the heart of Christ: He does not turn from the broken, but draws near with grace, offering love, restoration, and the invitation to return.

He does not wait for hearts to be perfect before drawing near. He meets us in the very place where we are. Not to leave us there, and not to stay apart but to meet us in our struggle, to walk with us, and to bring us gently into surrender, healing and closeness with Him.

If your heart is in a place you’ve been trying to hide, or if you are in that part of your life that feels most unworthy, know that His grace is not afraid of your brokenness; rather, it steps into it, right where change needs to begin.

He already knows every thought where you feel like you’ve fallen short, and still,
He comes closer.
He already knows what’s in your heart,
but, He loves you still.

Because nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate you from the love of God that is yours in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38–39).

The Sr. San Francisco Javier Chapel led a sacred parade for every Station of the Cross. Each step was a reminder that His suffering was not meaningless, but a reminder also of a love in its purest form—

Sometimes we worry so much about this life, forgetting it is only borrowed. We forget to pause, we are so invested in a life that can be taken from us anytime. And as the Holy Season of Lent begins— pause, reflect, and return to the Lord with humble hearts.

May this season lead us closer to Him through prayer, sacrifice, and love.
