“Holy Spirit Mass during the Induction of Officers for the 1st Semester, F.Y. 2026–2027 and blessing of the BIC Facilities”

The Religious Education Community gathered together for our First Community Mass of August, celebrating the Holy Spirit Mass with grateful hearts. It was a meaningful celebration as we gathered in prayer, faith, and unity as one community.

The celebration was also a special moment as we welcomed our newly elected officers through their induction and witnessed the blessing of the BIC facilities. As we welcome another set of officers, we are reminded that leadership is a responsibility to serve, listen, and work together for the good of the community.

We are grateful to Rev. Fr. Frank Vendor for presiding over the Holy Spirit Mass. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide our officers and the whole Religious Education Community as we continue to learn, serve, and grow in faith together.

Clare Offreduccio was an Italian noblewoman, the founder of the Order of Poor Clares, and the first woman in Church history to write a monastic rule. She was born on July 16, 1194 to a high-ranking noble family in the quaint Italian town of Assisi. Raised in a grand palace in Assisi and a castle on the nearby slope of Mount Subasio, the girls were nurtured in their faith by their devout Catholic parents, especially their mother. From an early age, they led a life of prayer. At the church of San Giorgio in Assisi, preached by Brother Francis. The mission resonated deeply with Clare, and she felt God calling her to join Francis and his brothers by forming a women’s branch of their new order.

After Francis died, Mother Clare wrote a rule for her sisters that received Pope Innocent IV’s approval days before her death in 1256 at age fifty-nine. This marked the first time that a pope approved a rule for religious life written by a woman. Then, Pope Alexander IV canonized Clare of Assisi on September 26, 1255, just two years after her death. Today is the feast day of Saint Clare of Assisi, celebrated annually on August 11.

Lawrence was born on December 31, 225 AD in Spain, perhaps at Osca in Aragon, near the foot of the Pyrenees mountains. In Rome, Lawrence was ordained one of the city’s seven deacons most likely as the head of the seven, the Archdeacon of Rome. He was in charge of the Church’s material possessions, responsible for distributing alms to the poor. He become known as the patron saint of cooks and tanners. Because he cared for and hid important documents of the Church before dying, he is the patron saint of archivists and librarians. Also because of the humor Lawrence displayed while dying, as recorded by Saint Ambrose, he is the patron saint of comedians.

Pope Sixtus II ordained Lawrence as a deacon in 257 AD shortly after the pope was elected to the papacy. From the third century onward, Saint Lawrence has been highly venerated in Rome and is considered a patron of Rome, after Saints Peter and Paul. After Constantine the Great legalized Christianity in the fourth century, tradition holds that he built a basilica over the tomb of Saint Lawrence that became one of the seven main churches in Rome, the Basilica di San Lorenzo fuori le Mura.

REEDS FIRST GENERAL BEC FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

GOSPEL: Matthew 14:22–33

The Religious Education Students gathered together for our First General BEC on August 9, 2026. It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, pray, reflect, share our experiences, and strengthen our bond as a community.

"Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” — Matthew 14:27

May this Gospel remind us to keep our faith in Jesus even when we face challenges and uncertainties. Like Peter, may we learn to trust Him and remember that we are never alone in our journey.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

We give thanks to our loving God for granting us the opportunity to experience the Modular Theological Formation Program. This journey of the Religious Education students on formation has been filled with meaningful experiences and valuable learning.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated facilitators, Mr. Dominiano Esta, Mr. Dustine Jay G. Aslag, Mrs. Pamela R. Olinan, Fr. Aldyne John Daniot, Ms. Glienda Rosatase and to our Director, Mr. Demetrio G. Matic Jr., for their unwavering guidance, dedication, and support throughout this journey.

Hoping all the knowledge and faith we have gained through Sacred Scripture, Ecclesiology, Dogma & Doctrine, English, Catechetical Pedagogy, and Liturgy & Sacraments inspire each of us to serve God and His Church with greater dedication. May all the knowledge will not end at the venue where it was held, but continue to lived out each day through faithful service and a commitment to lifelong learning.
