Title: Tips Not To Be Deceived By The Devil
Text: 1 Peter 5:6-11

Introduction: The devil’s greatest weapon isn’t persecution — it’s deception. Apostle Peter writes to suffering Christians with a warning.

When trials come, the worst response is isolation. The best defense is to stay humble, stay prayerful, and stay in community.

1. Be ABSOLUTELY surrended
*verse 6, (surely God will HELP the HUMBLE)
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."

2. Be ANXIETY free
*verse 7, (PREFER to PRAY all the more)
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

3. Be ALERT of the devil
*verse 8, (be aware of the STRATEGY of SATAN)
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

4. Be ACTIVE in faith
*verse 9a, (FIGHT fear with FAITH)
"Resist him, standing firm in the faith."

5. Be AWARE of the situation *verse 9b, (that the PERSECUTION is PREVALENT)
"Because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

6. Be ASPIRANT Of God's help
*verse 10, (grace is God's HELP to the HELPLESS)
"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast."

7. Be ADORING To God
*verse 11, (WHATEVER happens continue to WORSHIP God)
"To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

Conclusion: Don’t Fight Alone. When Satan attacks through trials and temptation, isolating yourself is exactly what he wants. God designed us for community. We need brothers and sisters who will hold us up when we’re weak, pray when we’re weary, and remind us of truth when we’re tempted to believe lies.

Questions to R-E-F-L-E-C-T:

R-eliance to God:
Am I absolutely surrendered under God’s hand today?

E-xchange burden:
What anxieties do I need to cast on God right now?

F-ocus on the devil's work:
How alert am I to the devil’s strategy this week?

L-eaning on faith:
Am I actively resisting the enemy by standing firm in faith?

E-mpathy to others:
How can knowing that other believers suffer too keep me from isolation and discouragement?

C-onfidence to God:
Am I anchoring my hope in God’s grace, not my strength?

T-hanksgiving to God:
Is my heart still adoring God despite the trial?

Title: Great Task For Those Who Transformed By God
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Introduction: When we received salvation through faith in Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit began to transform our lives, preparing us for the ministry of reconciliation. As believers, we have the responsibility to share the message of salvation with others.

1. The TRUTH of God
*verses 11-12, (COMMENDED through our CONSCIENCE)
"Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience."

2. The TACT of love
*verses 13-15, (the love of CHRIST proven by dying on the CROSS)
"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died."

3. The TESTIMONY we have
*verses 16-17, (He CHANGED us to become new CREATIONS)
"So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer."

4. The TASKING to us
*verses 18-19, (He forgave us and RELEGATES to the ministry of RECONCILIATION)
"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

5. The TITLE we have
*verse 20, (we are AMBASSADORS to make an APPEAL to the people)
"We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

6. The TRANSFORMATION from God
*verse 21, (the overall BENEFIT to all who BELONGS to Jesus)
"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

Conclusion: Being Christ's ambassadors is a great honor and responsibility. We are not only reconciled to God, but also called to reconcile others to Him. May we live out our faith with purpose and conviction, sharing the message of reconciliation with a world in need.

Title: Painful Discipline with a Purpose
Text: Hebrews 12:4-12

Introduction: "God’s discipline is not punishment without reason, but fatherly love shaping us for holiness."
~ Pinterest

This quote highlights God’s discipline isn’t Him punishing us out of anger, but Him lovingly correcting you like a Father who wants you to grow. He allows hardship and conviction to shape you, remove sin, and make you more holy and Christlike.

No one enjoys being disciplined. When pain comes, our first reaction is “Why me, Lord?” But Hebrews 12 pulls back the curtain and shows us God’s heart in the hardship.

The writer reminds discouraged believers: Struggle against sin is real, but your suffering is not meaningless. It’s the hand of a Father training His children.

1. The REALITY of discipline
*verses 4-6, (indeed, the result of SIN is SUFFERING)
"In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.”

Note: Every believer will face God’s discipline. It’s not proof He hates you, but proof you belong to Him.

Illustration: A coach doesn’t discipline someone who isn’t on the team.

Application: Don’t be surprised by the heat. If God is correcting you, it’s because He calls you “son” and “daughter.”

2. The REASON for discipline
*verses 7-9, (God LOVES us and He does not want our LIVES to be ruined)
"Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!"

Note: God’s goal is not to crush you, but to conform you to Christ. Earthly fathers discipline for a short time; our Heavenly Father does it for eternity.

Illustration: A surgeon’s cut is painful, but it’s to remove what will kill you.

Application: Ask not just “Why is this happening?” but “What is God producing in me through this?”

3. The RESPONSE to discipline
*verses 10-11a, (consider GOD'S discipline is for our GOODNESS)
"Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful."

Note: We have two choices: resist and grow bitter, or receive and grow better. The fruit only comes after we endure.

Illustration: A seed must break open in the soil before it becomes a tree.

Application: Endurance is not passive waiting. It’s active trust that God knows what He’s doing.

4. The RESULT of discipline
*verse 11b, (suffering is SHORT-LIVED compared to lasting SATISFACTION)
"Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

Note: Discipline feels painful now, but it produces peace and righteousness later. God never wastes pain.

Illustration: A blacksmith’s hammering looks like destruction, but it’s shaping the sword.

Note: Don’t despise the process. The peace you’re praying for is being forged through the pressure.

5. The RECOVERY from discipline
*verse 12, (the ENCOURAGEMENT to ENDURE)
"Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees."

Note: After discipline, God calls us to stand up again. We don’t stay down. We’re strengthened to run the race ahead.

Illustration: A physical therapist helps you walk again after surgery.

Application: If you’ve been under God’s hand, don’t stay discouraged. Stand up, refocus, and keep running.

Conclusion: The Father’s hand is a loving hand
Hebrews 12:4-12 tells us that God’s discipline is proof of His love, not His absence. He disciplines us because He delights in us, and He wants us holy, not hurt. The Father’s hand may be heavy today, but it’s shaping you for holiness tomorrow.

So today;
> Stop resisting – Receive His correction with humility.
> Start trusting – Believe He’s working for your good and His glory.
> Stay moving – Lift your hands, strengthen your knees, and run with endurance.

Title: The Five Follies of King Asa
Text: 2 Chronicles 16:1-9

Introduction: King Asa started well. 2 Chronicles 14-15 shows a king who sought God, tore down idols, and led revival. But chapter 16 tells a different story. In his 36th year, Asa faced a crisis and made a choice that marked the beginning of his downfall.

1. FEAR instead of faith
*verses v.1-2, (fear makes him FORGET God’s FAITHFULNESS)
In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah. Asa then took the silver and gold out of the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and of his own palace and sent it to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus.

Note: Crisis reveals who we really trust.

2. FINANCES instead of the Father
*verses 2b-3a, (he BRIBED his way out instead of BOWING his way through)
And sent it to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus. “Let there be a treaty between me and you,” he said, “as there was between my father and your father."

Note: When you trust your wallet more than your worship, you’ve lost the war.

3. FLESHLY alliance instead of holy dependence
*verses 3b-6, (he partnered with the WORLD to fight the LORD)
"See, I am sending you silver and gold. Now break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so he will withdraw from me." Ben-Hadad agreed with King Asa and sent the commanders of his forces against the towns of Israel. They conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim and all the store cities of Naphtali. When Baasha heard this, he stopped building Ramah and abandoned his work. Then King Asa brought all the men of Judah, and they carried away from Ramah the stones and timber Baasha had been using. With them he built up Geba and Mizpah.

Note: Fleshly solutions create spiritual pollution.

4. FOOLISH anger instead of humble repentance
*verses 7-10, (he jailed the PROPHET and oppressed the PEOPLE)
"At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. Were not the Cush*tes and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison. At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people."

Note: Rejecting rebuke is the first step to ruin.

5. FORSAKEN health instead of divine healing
*verses 12-13, (he sought DOCTORS but not the DIVINE Physician)
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the Lord, but only from the physicians. Then in the forty-first year of his reign Asa died and rested with his fathers.

Note: Finishing without faith is the greatest failure.

Conclusion: Don’t waste a good start. This is a warning for all of us: A good start doesn’t guarantee a good finish. You don’t have to end like Asa. The same God who strengthened him for 35 years wants to strengthen you today. Stop trusting in what you can see, and start trusting in the One who sees you.

Questions to R-E-F-L-E-C-T:

R-emember God’s faithfulness:
What’s one time God delivered you in the past that you need to remember today?

E-xample where you’re investing trust:
What does choosing to trust God look like right now?

F-ace any fleshly alliances:
What’s one step to break that alliance and return to holy dependence?

L-isten to God’s rebuke:
Is there a conviction, Scripture, or correction you’ve been ignoring? How can you respond with humility instead of defensiveness today?

E-mbrace God’s discipline as love:
How can you receive it as a Father’s care, not a judge’s punishment?

C-hoose the Divine Physician:
What area of your life -- physical, emotional, spiritual -- are you trying to fix without praying? Will you bring it to God first this morning?

T-rust for a strong finish:
What’s one thing you can surrender to God today so you don’t waste the start He’s given you?

C-losing prayer:
Father, I don’t want to be another Asa. Strengthen my heart today to fear You more than my problems, trust You more than my wallet, and listen to You more than my pride. Amen.

Title: Decision To Forgive To Forget
Text: Genesis 33:1-11

Introduction: Genesis 32 ends with Jacob terrified. The brother he cheated 20 years ago is coming with 400 men. Jacob wrestles with God, pleads for mercy, and prepares for the worst. But Genesis 33 shows us what happens when God answers.

I. Jacob Presents His FERVOR To Esau
1. His STRATEGY for their safety
*verses 1-2, (he grouped his CHILDREN to their CORRESPONDING mothers)
Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two maidservants. He put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear.

2. His SUBMISSION to his sibling
*verses 3-4, (he bowed down SEVEN times to SHOW his complete submission to Esau)
He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.

II. Jacob Presents His FAMILY To Esau
1. The ASKING to Jacob
*verse 5a, (to CONFIRM his sense of CONNECTION to Jacob's companions)
Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked.

2. The ANSWER of jacob
*verses 5b-7, (Jacob's ENTIRE family have honor to his brother ESAU)
Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.” Then the maidservants and their children approached and bowed down. Next, Leah and her children came and bowed down. Last of all came Joseph and Rachel, and they too bowed down.

III. Jacob Presents His FLOCKS To Esau
1. The GIFT to Esau
*verses 8-9, (Esau REJECTS Jacob's peace offering for their RECONCILIATION)
Esau asked, “What do you mean by all these droves I met?” “To find favor in your eyes, my lord,” he said. But Esau said, “I already have plenty, my brother. Keep what you have for yourself.”

2. The GENEROSITY of Jacob
*verses 10-11, (but ALL of the gifts, Jacob insisted to be ACCEPTED by Esau)
“No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably. Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need.” And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it.

Conclusion: This isn’t just a family reunion — it’s a masterclass in forgiveness. Esau had every reason for revenge. Jacob had every reason to run. Instead, we see a miracle: forgiveness that forgets, and reconciliation that restores. If God can heal this, He can heal yours. Forgive to forget, then trust to love again.

Questions to R-E-F-L-E-C-T:

R-ealizing to forgive:
Esau ran to meet Jacob before Jacob finished bowing. Who do you need to run toward today instead of waiting for them to come to you?

E-mbracing restoration:
Jacob and Esau wept when they embraced. Is there a broken relationship where pride is keeping you from the healing of an embrace?

F-ear of something:
Jacob’s fear led him to strategize and divide his family. What fear is driving your decisions in conflict instead of faith in God’s reconciliation?

L-etting go of pride:
Jacob bowed seven times in complete submission. Where do you need to lower yourself and own your part before you can be lifted into peace?

E-ntrusting to God:
Esau said, “I already have plenty.” Are you holding onto an offense because you think they still “owe” you? Can you say “I have enough” and release it?

C-onfidence to God:
Jacob said, “God has graciously given me.” Do you credit God’s grace for what you have, and does that grace make you more generous to those who hurt you?

T-estimony of godliness:
Jacob said, “To see your face is like seeing the face of God.” Who needs to hear from you that forgiving them was like seeing God’s mercy?
