Let us celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Joseph!
A man of humbleness and obedience, Pray for us!

Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth, played an important role in the history of our salvation. In the Annunciation, the angel of the Lord appeared to St. Joseph in a dream and commanded him to take Mary as his wife because she was bearing the Son of God whose name is Emmanuel, meaning β€˜God is with us’. Without hesitation, St. Joseph followed what the angel had commanded for he is upright and obedient to the will of God. As disciples of Christ, may we always be courageous, like St. Joseph, to offer our β€œyes” to God.

POPE FRANCIS' PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage, and defend us from every evil.

Amen.

ASH WEDNESDAY

Today is Ash Wednesday and the start of a new Lenten season. Pope Francis encourages the faithful to live β€œin the presence of the Father [who] gives us a much deeper joy than worldly glory can give us. May our attitude this Lent be one of living in secret where the Father sees us, loves us and waits for us. Naturally, exterior things are important too, but we must always choose to live in the presence of God.

Let us do what we can, in prayer, in sacrifice, and in acts of charity, humbly before God. This way we will be worthy of God the Father’s reward.” May each of us have a blessed Lent.

β€œBe patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near,” (James 5:8).
