a. - of the Scriptures
We believe in the Old and the New Testaments' Scriptures as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21
b. - of the True God
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, infinite Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven, and possible honor, confidence, and love. In Godhead's unity, there are three persons- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. - Exodus 20:2-3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
c. - of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is begotten miraculously of the Holy Spirit, born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever or can ever be born of a woman and that He is both the Son of God and God the Son. - Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:35; John 1:14
d. - Of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and the same nature; that He was active in the creation; that in His relation to the unbelieving world, He restrains the evil one until God's purpose has come to fulfillment; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the Agent of the new birth; that He seals, baptizes, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believers. - John 14:16-17; Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 9:14; John 14:26; Luke 1:35; Genesis 1:1-3; 2 Thessalonians 2:7; John 16:8-11; John 15:26-27; Acts 5:3-5, 30-32; John 3:5-6; Ephesians 1:13-14; Mark 1:8; John 1:33; Acts 11:16; Luke 24:39; John 16:13; John 16:26; Romans 8:14; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Romans 8:16 1 Peter 1:2; Romans 8:26-27
e. - Of the Devil or Satan
We believe in Satan's personality, that he is the unholy God of this age, and the author of all the powers of darkness, and is to suffer the judgment of an eternal justice in the lake of fire. - Job 1-2; Matthew 4:1-3; Mark 1:13; 2 Corinthians 4:1; Ephesians 2:2; 1 Peter 5:8-9; Revelation 20:10
f. - Of the Creation
We accept the Genesis account of creation and believe that men came by God's direct creation and not by evolution. - Genesis 1:2; Colossians 1:16-17; John 1:3
g. - Of the Fall of man
We believe that God created man with innocence under God's law, but by voluntary transgression, fell from his sinless and happy state in consequence of which all humankind are now sinners, not only by constraint, but of choice, and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse. - Genesis 3:1-6,24; Romans 5:12,19; Romans 3:10-19; Ephesians 2:1,3; Romans 1:8, 20, 32; Galatians 3:22
h. - Of the Atonement for Sin
We believe that the salvation of sinners is only of grace, through the mediatorial office of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, lived a life of absolute sinlessness, honored the divine law by His obedience. We believe that His death resulted in the full and vicarious atonement of our sins. That is not done to set an example in dying as a martyr but was the voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place. The just dying for the unjust, Christ the Lord, bore our sins in His own body on the tree; that having risen bodily from the dead. We believe that He is now enthroned in Heaven and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection; He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, compassionate, and all-sufficient Saviour. - Ephesians 2:8; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24-25; John 3:16; Matthew 18:11; 1 Timothy 2:5; Philippians 2:7; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:5
i. - Of Grace in the New Creation
We believe that to be saved; sinners must be born again. The new birth that represents the new creation in Christ Jesus is instantaneous and not a process; the one dead in trespasses and sins is made a partaker of the divine nature of Jesus Christ, receives eternal life, the gift of God. The new creation is brought about in a manner above our comprehension, not only by culture, character, nor by the will of men, but wholly and solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, to secure our voluntary obedience to the Gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the repentance and faith and newness of life. - John 3:3; 6-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17,19; 1 John 5:1, Acts 16:30-31; 2 Peter 1:4; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1; Colossians 2:13; John 1:12-13; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:9
j. - Of Justification
We believe that the great Gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as belief in Him is justification: 1. the justification includes the pardon of sin and the gift of eternal life on principles of righteousness; 2. that it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done; but solely through faith in the Redeemer's blood, whereby He becomes our righteousness. - Acts 13:39; Isaiah 53:11; Zechariah 13:1; Romans 3:26; Romans 8:1; Romans 5:9; 17-19; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 1:17; Habbakuk 2:4; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38; Romans 4:1-18
k. - Of Faith and Salvation
We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation. - Acts 16:31; Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8-10
l. Of the Local Church
We believe that a local church should be a true local manifestation of the universal church - the body, building, and bride of Christ. It is a congregation of believers baptized through immersion and is associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. It observes Christ's ordinances, governed by His laws; and exercises the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word. Its primary officers are pastors/elders and deacons whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures; we believe the church's real mission is the faithful witnessing for Christ to all men as we have the opportunity. We believe that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations and that the one and only superintendent is Christ, through the Holy Spirit; that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate in contending for the faith and the furtherance of the Gospel. That every church is the sole and only judge of the measure and method of its cooperation that all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of ordination, and benevolence, the will of the local church is final. - Ephesians 4:11, 22-23; 2 Corinthians 3:9,16; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Revelation 19:7-9; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:2; Acts 20:17-28; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; Acts 15:13-18,22; 1 Corinthians 5:5,13
m. - Of the Lord's Day
We believe that in this Age of Grace, the Lord's day, which is the first day of the week, the day of our Lord's resurrection, is the good day for Christian worship and service. That it ought to be kept sacred for religious purposes by abstinence from all unnecessary secular labor and recreations and activities which are unbecoming to such a day. - Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2; Mark 16:2; Luke 24:1
n. - Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper
We believe that Christian baptism is by immersion of a believer in water. To show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite the privileges of a church relation. We believe that the Lord's Supper is the commemoration of His death until He comes and should always precede with solemn self-examination. - Acts 8:36-39; John 3:23; Romans 6:23-25; Matthew 25:26-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-31
o. - of Separation from World and Apostacy
We believe in the separation from apostasy, liberalism, and all organizations comprising the truth of God's Word, and all Worldliness is binding upon every child of God and every true church. - 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Jude 3:4; 2 John 6:11; Galatians 1:8-9; 1 John 2:15-16; Titus 2:12; 1 Peter 4:2
p. - of the Security of the Saints
We believe that all who are genuinely born again are kept by God the Father, for Jesus Christ. - Philippians 1:6; John 10:28-29; Romans 8:35-39; Ephesians 4:30; (See Romans 8:23); Jude I (Revised Version)
q. - of Civil Government
We believe that the civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society. Government Officials are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed, except only in things opposed to our Lord Jesus Christ's will. Jesus is the only Lord of the conscience and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth. - Romans 13:1-7; 2:17; Acts 5:29; 4:19-20; Daniel 3:17-18; Matthew 10:28; 23:10; Revelation 19:16; Philippians 2:10-11; Psalms 72:11
r. - of the Righteous and the Wicked
We believe that there is a radical and fundamental difference between the righteous and the wicked. The righteous are justified through faith in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ alone, sanctified by the Spirit of our God. The wicked are the ones that, even though they continue in impenitence yet live with unbelief, are under the curse. The wicked destination is eternal separation from God and eternal suffering in hell, while the righteous will be given eternal life with God. - Malachi 3:18; Genesis 18:25; John 3:36; Romans 6:17-18; 1 John 5:19; Romans 7:6; Romans 6:23; Provers 143:2; Luke 16:25,26; Matthew 23:34-41, 46; John 8:21; Matthew 7:13-14
