Oct. 10, 2026 -- 28th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (A)
P R A Y E R
Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for inviting us to the banquet of the Kingdom,
the great feast you keep tendering in honor of your Son.
We know we are not worthy of such an honor.
We know that some have rejected your invitation disdainfully.
Others accepted it, but only for a time,
their hearts wavering between loyalty to you
and the deceiving attractions of a treacherous world.
Some even became your enemies, in spite of the fact that you had honored them with your friendship and trust . . . .
But many others have accepted your invitation
and have lived up to your expectations with grateful love.
They have walked in the footsteps of your Son Jesus; have taken to heart his teaching and lived and cared as he did, even when life was anything but a celebration.
These are your heroes and friends, Lord,
your ever-loyal and faithful allies;
the ones, whose greatest ambition in life was and still is to please you in all they do, without regrets,
sometimes even at the cost of paying the highest price.
They are our heroes, too, Lord. We want to be like them.
We solemnly pledge to remain true to you, come what may: in mornings of light and evenings of darkness; in days of joy and nights of sorrow,
for as long as you keep calling us.
We want to constantly wear with unsullied dignity
the wedding garment of your grace as we dine at your table or work as hard as we can in the field of your Kingdom.
We want to stay with you at all times, in endless gratitude, for, one hour in your presence, O Lord, is worth more than one million years away from you!
