PAALALA!

“Lumapit, makinig, magsisi. Ihanda ang puso kay Kristo ngayong Adbiyento.”

A million times I failed, by Your mercy remains.

Despite the multitude of failures and setbacks I may face in life, your mercy oh God remains unwavering and constant. It is a testament that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope and redemption to be found.

A Newborn's Conversation with God

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom.”

Dear Carlo Yulo,

Just a reminder that God's blessings are not simply rewards for being "good" or withheld from those who are "not good."

God’s love and grace are freely given and not based solely on merit. God loves everyone unconditionally, and His blessings are often signs of that love, meant to draw us closer to Him, not just rewards for moral behavior.

This doesn’t mean that our actions don’t matter, they do. We are called to follow God’s commandments, seek virtue, and live according to His will.

However, God’s grace is always available, even for those who struggle, fail, or they are not "good enough." The parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) beautifully illustrates this. Even when the son strayed, his father (representing God) continued to love him and welcomed him back with open arms when he returned.

God blesses us in many ways, often beyond what we perceive or deserve. As St. Paul says in **Romans 5:8**, "But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This demonstrates that God’s blessings and love are often given to lead us to repentance and transformation, not because we’ve earned them through being perfect.

If you feel unworthy or like you are not a "good person," remember that God is merciful and always invites us to grow in holiness. The sacraments, especially Reconciliation, offer a means to receive His forgiveness and grace, helping us on our journey toward becoming who we are truly meant to be in His eyes.

Pope Francis shared a message in his Christmas homily for anyone who may be feeling sad or discouraged with a reminder that the Lord was born to save the world and to give us a hope that is greater than all of our problems.
