We cannot claim Christ as our savior while letting the world shape our values, priorities, and thinking. When we build on money, approval, or self-reliance, we are choosing a faulty foundation. As God’s set-apart children, every single area of our lives—our relationships, careers, and private thoughts—must align with the character and truth of Christ. In this message, we look at what it means to align our entire lives around Jesus and refuse to be conformed to our former ignorance.

"Stand on the Cornerstone,"
We are confronted with the vital question of what foundation we are truly building our lives upon. Grounded in the glorious reality that Jesus Christ is the living Stone—chosen and precious in the sight of God, yet rejected by the world—Peter reveals that believers are living stones being built together into a spiritual house to offer acceptable worship through Him.

Because every human foundation of success, reputation, control, or human approval will ultimately fail when tested, true repentance requires tearing down every competing foundation and aligning our lives entirely around Christ. Far from offering neutral ground, the Cornerstone is either the secure foundation upon which we stand without fear of ultimate shame, or the stumbling stone over which the disobedient fall.

We are challenged to examine the spiritual hindrances that stall our growth and leave us feeling stuck in our walk of faith.
Grounded in the truth that believers are born again through the living and abiding Word of God, Peter reveals that spiritual maturity requires both putting away the relational sins that defile our hearts—such as malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander—and cultivating an earnest, supernatural love for the local church.
Just as a poor diet of junk food ruins a child's appetite for nutritious meals, filling our lives with worldly distractions and unrepentant bitterness dulls our craving for truth and starves our souls. True spiritual progress happens when we clear away these toxic hindrances to make space for the feast of Scripture, hungering for its pure spiritual milk so that we may grow up into salvation.

Grounded in the supernatural reality of being born again through the imperishable, living Word of God, Peter demonstrates that genuine salvation is marked by a purified heart completely surrendered to the Lordship of Christ and an unreserved obedience to the truth of the gospel. This decisive moral transformation is not designed for isolated living, but is specifically purposed by God to produce a sincere, earnest, and supernatural love for the local church.

Far from treating Christian fellowship as a convenient consumer preference, true believers are empowered by Christ’s self-sacrificing love to humbly displace their own selfish agendas and invest their lives in His covenant community.
