Genesis 12, 1-4a

𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀

Noong mga araw na iyon, sinabi ng Panginoon kay Abram: “𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴-𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗸, 𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝗺𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗸𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗸𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝘆𝗼. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮. 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗮, 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶.

𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝘆𝗼’𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻,
𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗮 𝗸𝗮, 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗮’𝘆 𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻;
𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗸𝗼’𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗵𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗸𝗶𝗻,
𝗻𝗮, 𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮, 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗻.”

Panginoo’y tapat sa kanyang salita,
at maaasahan ang kanyang ginawa.

Ang may takot sa Diyos, at nagtitiwala
sa kanyang pag-ibig, ay kinakalinga.
Hindi babayaang sila ay mamatay,
kahit magtaggutom sila’y binubuhay.

Pinakamamahal kong kapatid:

Makihati ka sa kahirapan dahil sa Mabuting Balita, sa tulong ng Diyos na nagligtas at tumawag sa atin upang tayo’y maging kanyang bayan. Ito’y ginawa niya sa pamamagitan ni Kristo Hesus, hindi dahil sa ating mga gawa kundi ayon sa kanyang layunin at kagandahang-loob na inilaan sa atin bago pa magsimula ang panahon. Ngunit nahayag lamang ito nang dumating si Kristo Hesus na ating Tagapagligtas. Nilupig niya ang kamatayan at inihayag ang buhay na walang haggan sa pamamagitan ng Mabuting Balita.

𝗔𝗪𝗜𝗧-𝗣𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗗 𝗦𝗔 𝗠𝗔𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗔:

Sa ulap na maliwanag
ito ang siyang pahayag
ang D’yos Ama na nangusap:
“Ito ang mahal kong Anak,
lugod kong dinggin ng lahat.”

𝗔𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗼

Noong panahong iyon, isinama ni Hesus si Pedro, at ang magkapatid na Santiago at Juan, at sila’y umakyat sa isang mataas na bundok. Samantalang sila’y naroon, nakita nilang nagbagong anyo si Hesus: nagliwanag na parang araw ang kanyang mukha, at pumuting parang busilak ang kanyang damit. Nakita na lamang at sukat ng tatlong alagad sina Moises at Elias na nakikipag-usap kay Hesus. Kaya’t sinabi ni Pedro kay Hesus, “𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶 𝗽𝗮’𝘆 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮 𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼. 𝗞𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘆𝗼, 𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗮𝗸𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝘂𝗯𝗼𝗹: 𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘆𝗼, 𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘀.” Nagsasalita pa siya nang liliman sila ng isang maningning na ulap. At mula rito’y may tinig na nagsabi, “𝗜𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗸 𝗻𝗮 𝗹𝘂𝗯𝗼𝘀 𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗹𝘂𝗴𝗱𝗮𝗻. 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘆𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝘆𝗮!” Ang mga alagad ay natakot nang gayun na lamang nang marinig nila ang tinig, at sila’y napasubasob. Nguni’t nilapitan sila ni Hesus at hinipo. “𝗧𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗼,” sabi niya, “𝗵𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘁.” At nang tumingin sila ay wala silang nakita kundi si Hesus.

At habang bumababa sila sa bundok, iniutos ni Hesus sa kanila, “𝗛𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗴 𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮’𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗯𝘂𝗵𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗸 𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗼.”

SALVE FIESTA DIES: Invocation of the 18 Apparitions of Lourdes - 3rd Apparition

On 18th February 1858, Bernadette arrives at the grotto early in the morning, accompanied by Mrs. Millet and Mrs. Peyret. As soon as she knelt in front of the rock, one of the two women lights her Child of Mary candle and hands it to her. After reciting the rosary and understanding that Bernadette is indeed in the presence of the mysterious visitor, Mrs. Millet gives her a sheet of paper, an inkwell and a pen. As agreed, Bernadette is going to ask the lady for her name. But with a simple wave of her hand, the child is invited to enter the grotto. Bernadette obeys. What a surprise! No sooner is the little girl in the recess of the rock than she is welcomed by the mysterious visitor, radiating a soft light. They are close to each other.

Bernadette then asks the question that she had learned by heart:

– Would you be kind enough to write your name?

The lady smiles and responds to the child in a soft and delicate voice:

– It’s not necessary.

Then, with great gentleness, the lady asks Bernadette
“Will you do me the honour of coming here for a fortnight?”

A moment later, she adds:
– I do not promise you happiness in this world, but in the other.

This is the first dialogue between Mary and Bernadette, as told to us by the child who experienced it. If we choose to reflect on it, this relationship can help us in our own prayers.

We should note, first of all, Bernadette’s obedience, in agreeing to ask this mysterious visitor her name, and thus entering into an experience which for her was totally unexpected.

We should then consider that Mary addresses Bernadette’s freedom: “Will you do me the honour of coming here for a fortnight?” It is no longer Bernadette who is dependent on the response of Mary, it is Mary who is dependent on the response of little Bernadette.

Finally, let us not forget that later, we will see that when Mary says, “I promise you happiness in the other world,” her promise follows on from that of the child. To anyone who wanted to prevent her from going to the grotto, Bernadette would say, “I promised.”

𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗪𝗘𝗗𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗟 | 𝟬𝟮-𝟭𝟴-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

On Ash Wednesday, we begin the season of Lent. During this time of repentance, we reflect on God's mercy and His loving sacrifice.

The season of Lent reminds us that now is a favorable time and today is the day of salvation. Jesus Christ invites us to let go of 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and live with 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲.

True salvation comes not from outward observances but from a sincere conversion of heart, expressed in 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆, 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗕𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱.

𝗔𝘀𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘁

Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣."
