Theme: God Shows No Favoritism

Text: Acts 10

Intro: Peter and Cornelius — The Gospel Opens to Gentiles. Salvation is for everyone who fears Him.

I. Cornelius’ Vision in Caesarea. (vv. 1-8)

A. Cornelius: Roman centurion, devout, God-fearing, generous to the poor.

B. Angel appears: "Your prayers and gifts have come up as a memorial before God."

C. Instructed to send men to Joppa for Peter.

II. Peter’s Vision in Joppa. (vv. 9-16)

A. Peter praying on rooftop, becomes hungry.

1. Vision: Sheet with all kinds of animals, reptiles, birds.

2. Voice: "Get up Peter. Kill and eat."

3. Peter: "Never Lord! I have never eaten anything unclean."

4. Voice: "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

5. Happens 3 times, then sheet taken back to heaven.

III. Peter Meets Cornelius’ Men. (vv. 17-23)
Peter puzzled by vision.

A. Spirit tells Peter: "3 men are looking for you. Go with them."

B. Peter welcomes Gentile men and stays with them.

IV. Peter Goes to Cornelius’ House. (vv. 24-33)

A. Cornelius gathers relatives and close friends.

B. Cornelius tries to worship Peter, Peter stops him: "I am only a man myself."

C. Peter explains: "God has shown me I should not call anyone impure or unclean."

D. Cornelius shares his vision story.

V. Peter Preaches the Gospel. (vv. 34-43)

A. Peter’s realization: "God does not show favoritism"

B. Gospel summary: Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and role as Judge.

C. "Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins."

VI. Holy Spirit Falls on Gentiles. (vv. 44-48)

A. While Peter still speaking, Holy Spirit comes on all who heard.

B. Jewish believers amazed: Gentiles speak in tongues and praise God.

C. Peter commands them to be baptized in Jesus’ name.

Conclusion: Big Take away: Acts 10 breaks the Jewish-Gentile barrier. God accepts people from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

"LET THE ONE WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD." 1 Corinthians 1:31

3 Bagay na dapat natin ipagyabang:

1. Yung Cross — Hindi mo kinaya. Siya ang gumawa. Galacia 6:14

2. Yung Kahinaan Mo — Kasi dun lumalakas yung grace Niya. 2 Cor 12:9

3. Yung Pagkilala Mo sa Kanya — Jeremiah 9:24.

Hindi sa pagkilala ng mundo sa'yo.

So whatever you do, do it for the Lord. You must always keep in your mind that to be a Christian we must first seek Jesus. We have nothing but Him and all we have now is Jesus in our lives.

*📖 WHAT DOES THE CROSS REPRESENT?*

The cross isn’t just a symbol of death — *it’s the greatest symbol of LOVE and VICTORY.*

*1. SACRIFICE & ATONEMENT*
_“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8_
The cross is where Jesus took our place. *Our sin deserved death, but He chose the nails* so we could choose life.

*2. FORGIVENESS & GRACE*
_“Father, forgive them” — Luke 23:34_
At the cross, the debt of sin was *PAID IN FULL* — _“Tetelestai.”_ John 19:30
No more guilt. No more shame. *Grace won.*

*3. VICTORY OVER SIN & DEATH*
The cross looked like defeat, but *it was God’s greatest win.*
_“He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them” — Colossians 2:15_
*Sunday is coming* — the empty tomb proves it.

*4. RECONCILIATION WITH GOD*
_“Through him to reconcile to himself all things... making peace by the blood of his cross” — Colossians 1:20_
The cross *bridged the gap* between a holy God and broken people. *We’re family again.*

*5. OUR CALL TO FOLLOW*
_“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily” — Luke 9:23_
The cross isn’t just what Jesus did — *it’s what we’re called to live.* Love that sacrifices. Faith that obeys.

*The cross: Where God’s justice met God’s mercy. Where wrath ended and love began.*

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, *Everlasting Father*, Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6, ESV

1. Context first: Who’s this about?

Isaiah wrote this 700+ years before Jesus was born. It’s a prophecy about the Messiah who would come. The apostles in the New Testament applied this verse to Christ — see Matthew 4:15-16 and Luke 1:79.

2. Why “Everlasting Father” if He’s the Son?

This is the part that confuses people. But this doesn’t mean Jesus = God the Father. In the Trinity, the Father and the Son are distinct Persons. He’s called, “Everlasting Father”because:

A. He’s a Father in care and protection

In Israel’s culture, a king was called, “Father of the nation” — meaning provider, protector, and caregiver. Jesus, as Messiah and King, is a Father to believers*.

John 10:28 says: _“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.” That’s what a father does — gives life and protects.

B. Everlasting = Source of eternal life

He’s the _“author of life”_ Acts 3:15. Through Christ we become “children of God” - John 1:12. So in a spiritual sense, He’s the Father of the new creation 2 Cor 5:17. He’s not God the Father, but He fathers our faith*.

C. Hebrew word: _“Avi-ad”_ = “Father of Eternity”

Literal translation: _“Father of Eternity” Meaning, He owns, originates, and rules over eternity. He wasn’t created — He Himself is eternal. Col 1:17: _“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Then in Isaiah 9:6, He’s also the Everlasting Father eternal life to your
_“Everlasting Father”_ doesn’t mean Jesus and God the Father are the same Person. They’re distinct in the Trinity. But He’s called that because:

1. He’s a King who cares like a father
2. He’s the Source of eternal life
3. His nature is eternal— He’s the _“Father of Eternity”_

So deep, right? 700 BC and God already planned that Jesus would come as Wonderful Counselor for the confused, Mighty God for the weak, Everlasting Father for the fatherless, and Prince of Peace for the restless.
