REST IN PEACE, BISHOP EMILIO “BOY” L. BATACLAN
September 20, 1940 – June 24, 2026
With faith in the Resurrection, we join the Archdiocese of Cebu in mourning the passing of Most Rev. Emilio “Boy” L. Bataclan, DD, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Cebu.
Bishop Bataclan served as the first Director of the Spiritual Pastoral Formation Year (SPFY) from 1986 to 1987. A native of Bantayan, Cebu, he became the first bishop from Bantayan, later followed by Archbishop John F. Du. He faithfully served the Archdiocese of Cebu for more than eleven years as Auxiliary Bishop and retired from active ministry on October 1, 2015, becoming Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Cebu.
Grateful for his dedicated priestly and episcopal ministry, we commend his soul to the loving mercy of God.
Eternal rest grant unto Emilio, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
