Number 1:47-54
"Exempted but not excluded"

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not list, and you shall not take a census of them among the people of Israel. But appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony,.."

The Levites were exempted in the census but not excluded. Rather, they are given the most significant call and command that could spare the congration of the people of Israel from the wrath of God (v.53)

They were appointed over the tabernacle of the testimony (v.50), and keep guard over the tabernacle of testimony (v.53)
1. They are commanded to carry it.
2. They are commanded to care for it.
3. They are commanded to cover (protect) it.

Thoughts to Ponder:
1. In Christ, we are priests having the same calling
to carry, care and protect the testimony of our
God. (1 Peter 2:9)
2. As believers of Christ, we are called for a greater
war. We are commissioned to protect the
testimony of God in our lives from the thing that
could and would corrupt it. We are now His
temple.
