SAINT OF THE DAY

July 25 | Feast Day of Saint James the Apostle

The Feast Day of Saint James the Apostle is celebrated on July 25th each year. Saint James, also known as James the Greater, was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and the brother of Saint John the Evangelist. He was one of the first disciples called by Jesus and was present at some of the most significant events in Jesus' life, including the Transfiguration and the Agony in the Garden.

According to tradition, Saint James preached the Gospel in Spain before returning to Jerusalem, where he was beheaded by King Herod Agrippa I in 44 AD. His remains were later transferred to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where they are still venerated today. Saint James is the patron saint of Spain, and the Way of St. James, a pilgrimage route that leads to his shrine in Santiago de Compostela, is one of the most famous pilgrimage routes in the world.

On the Feast Day of Saint James the Apostle, Christians around the world honor his life and legacy, and celebrate his contributions to the early Church. It is a day of prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving, as we give thanks for the faith and devotion of Saint James and all the saints who have gone before us.

SEND FORTH YOUR SPIRIT, O LORD, AND RENEW THE FACE OF THE EARTH

It has been the tradition of the ASFES Schools to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit to mark the official start of the school year. It is also our way of thanking and praising God through the Holy Spirit for all the bountiful blessings that we have been receiving as an academic institution.

We invite you to join us on July 29, 2022 (Friday) at 9:00AM for the Mass of the Holy Spirit to be presided by our ASFES Schools Superintendent Rev. Fr. Elmer G. Dizon at San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, Macabebe, Pampanga.

Be blessed, Nicholasians!
