Verse of the Week:
"Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." – James 1:21
With the whole world currently in multiple crises, we can’t help but notice that everyone around us is also in crises. Many are carrying physical, emotional, mental, and financial burdens. Everyday, we see proof that struggle is part of the daily human story, of which, none of us are exempt.
Most of the time, struggles can make us vulnerable, like sitting ducks waiting to be attacked by the enemy. On many occasions, we feel cornered, so we search every corner of our minds for a way out, but cannot seem to find one. In these desperate moments, temptation often creeps in, disguising itself as the easiest way out. It offers quick relief, but little do we know that we may be quietly opening doors to greater pain and deeper trouble. Temptation is pleasure for a moment, but consequences for a lifetime.
So what do we do in these moments of struggle and desperation? First, we begin by humbly acknowledging our human weakness, for pride often goes before a fall. Second, we must keep in step with and stay close to the Word of God. Humbly accept the word planted in you, for it has the power to save you.
The Bible calls us to read, study, and meditate on God’s Word daily so that we may hear, understand, and obey it. And yet, the stresses of life often convince us that we simply have no time for it. The truth however is, it is precisely on the days when we feel too tired, too busy, or too consumed by problems, that we need His Word the most.
When we think about God’s Word, we must remember that it is not the last resort. It is, in fact, the source of all wisdom - God’s wisdom. He generously gives this to all who ask.
May we remember what we have read and also do it, so we may be blessed in all that we do. 🩵💙
