Discipling Another to Love Jesus International Two serious concerns have plagued most, if not all, Christian churches:
1.

Guided by both the Great Commission and the Greatest Commandment, Discipling Another To Love Jesus is a ministry organization that envisions transforming individuals through one-on-one discipleship. Why do so many new believers fail to reach maturity in Christ and walk out the back door of the church after a few short months?
2. And though most Christians in the church want to help nurture new believers, would they know exactly what to do to be able to maximize the chances that these new believers would reach maturity in Christ? Because of this, our team would like to invite you and your church to join us as we rediscover the lost art of discipleship, particularly, one-on-one discipleship, enabling willing disciplers to disciple new believers in the first three months of their Christian walk, addressing the common struggles of new believers: doubt, wrong priorities, falling into temptation and sin, not knowing God’s will, and the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, fellowship, and evangelism - following a written, easy-to-follow, ten lesson workbook.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV

We all face something new. It could be a new job, relationship, or simply a new week.

When we think of the new, we may feel a sense of excitement. But the new can also make us uncomfortable. Many of us face it with avoidance. Instead of looking it in the eye, we hope it will pass quickly like we're praying for a typhoon to pass.

Why? Because as exciting as the unknown can be, it can also be scary. We can't control what we do not know.

So, when faced with the uncertainty, we often look back to what's familiar: the past.

We remember our victories which give us confidence, then we also remember the mistakes, disappointments, and hurts. Sometimes, those memories leave deeper marks on us. They consume our thoughts, influence our decisions, and even shape our reflexes. The past can become the lens through which we see the present and future because it feels like it's the only truth we truly know.

While we can't deny the truth of our past, we must remember that it is not the only truth we have. There is another truth — one that is greater, more certain, and more powerful: the Word of God.

When we read God's Word, particularly Hebrews 11, we encounter story after story of people who faced an unknown future. They did not know what was ahead, but they chose to trust the One who did.

Their faith has been preserved for us — to show us what faith really means and what faith in a powerful yet loving God can do. They remind us that faith is not the absence of uncertainty, but it's choosing to move forward even when we can't see what lies ahead because we trust the One who is able.

Friend, take time to read Hebrews 11. Let their stories encourage you. Keep fighting the good fight. Keep running your race. And keep your faith—whether the prize is in sight or out of sight.

God is working, whether we see it or not. 🩵💙

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19

Paul wrote Philippians while he was under imprisonment, yet his message was filled with joy, gratitude, and confidence in God.

The church in Philippi had been faithfully supporting Paul, even when they themselves had limited resources. Their generosity was not simply about money—it was an expression of partnership in the Gospel.

So when Paul says, “My God will supply all your needs,” he wasn't speaking from a place of comfort and abundance. He was writing from a difficult season, having personally experienced both plenty and less.

Paul's confidence was not - “Everything will always be easy.” His confidence was - “God will always be faithful.”

Sometimes we need to stretch our faith beyond what we can currently see.
Today, try these practical steps:

Name your need. Instead of carrying it silently, bring it honestly before God. Tell Him what you need — financially, emotionally, spiritually, or relationally.

Do your part. Faith doesn't mean doing nothing. Make the phone call. Send the application. Create the budget. Have the conversation. Take the next responsible step.

You may not know how God will provide. You may not know when the answer will come. But you can choose to trust Who holds your future.

God's riches are greater than your limitations. His faithfulness is greater than your fears.

So, stretch your faith, not your anxiety. 🩵💙

This is Pastor Grant Edwards, the founder of Discipling Another To Love Jesus International and the author of First Steps and Conversations.

When asked how God's promise of provision has become real to him in this season of his life, he replied:

“A great promise in the New Testament is Philippians 4:19, ‘My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.’

When we decide to follow Jesus, He will ask us to do something, and usually what He asks is beyond our talents and resources. To obey Jesus, we must take a step of faith that depends upon God’s provision.

I worked as a paid pastor for forty-nine years in the USA, and when leaving that position, my wife Barbara and I found ourselves with a desire to help churches around the world develop one to one discipleship programs. Yes, a big vision and without a paycheck. But God has supplied our needs.

During the last few years, God has provided the resources to publish a new book entitled Discipleship That Works, travel to the Philippines at least six times to lead disciple-making training conferences, and provide a new office in downtown Springfield as a headquarters for First Steps Discipleship a.k.a. Discipling Another to Love Jesus.

And all of this without a paycheck.

When we decide to follow Jesus, we experience an adventure. Time and time again during the last six years, we have encountered a need beyond our ability – sometimes with finances and at other times with needed volunteers – and both my wife and I can summarize the last few years as …

Our Needs Are Covered

It's almost 12 noon and you have yet to buy your food for lunch. What are you getting?

If you can only have one, would you get that fancy dessert you've always wanted to try or would you get that balanced meal combo?

Our wants and needs may not be the same at times.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” – ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This verse reassures us that God is not only aware of our needs but also fully capable of meeting them.

The phrase “according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” emphasizes the limitless nature of God’s provision. God’s resources are infinite, and He draws from the riches of His glory to care for us. This isn’t a promise of extravagant wealth, but of the assurance that whatever we truly need, God will provide.

Trusting God with our needs requires faith. It means believing that even when circumstances seem uncertain, God is faithful and will provide what is best for us. This trust grows as we remember His past faithfulness and hold onto His promises.

Find peace, knowing that our lives are in the hands of a God who is both willing and able to provide.

Find Jesus. 🩵💙

Bread and Fish Praying!

“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!” (Matthew 7:9-10, NLT)

God wants us to pray for our daily needs. I call it “bread and fish” praying.

We don’t bother God by praying for the details and small situations of our lives. God wants us to pray for our daily food, for specific people, for financial provision, and for upcoming difficult moments.

I think we too easily gloss over what Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer…

“Give us today the food we need.” (Matthew 6:11)

No prayer is too small.

We can pray large prayers of faith only after we’ve achieved success with “bread and fish” praying. Jesus gives an amazing promise of His intended blessings for us through our small daily prayers.

“So, if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” (Matthew 7:11) 🩵💙

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19

In recent years, news have flooded our phone screens, as if slapping our faces with the very big discrepancy between the rich and poor. While we may have no need for the luxurious lives of the rich and famous, we cannot help but look at the scale and find our spot -- are we closer to the top or the bottom? But as the days go by, we are pulled to a more somber question: do I get my needs for the day?

The apostle Paul, even with much of his liberties constrained in prison, reminded the people of Philippi that His God will supply their every need according, not to their riches, but to His. And this is just one of the thousands of promises of God's provision in the Bible.

God already knows our needs, our true needs… better than we do. He even sees the real needs hidden behind the wants, the real needs hidden behind the urgent and transient worries. His riches don't lack a single resource to meet our needs. And when He meets our every request, notice that He is also meeting us in our deepest need because the real truth is — He is our ultimate need.

So if our cares wake us up before the alarms we have set, let's take time to meditate on God's word and allow His promises to saturate our anxious hearts.

While the news present us with current events, His word will hold us strong and steady in the midst of the raging current of the news. 🩵💙

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” – 1 John 3:1

As we pause today, let’s remember something that can easily get lost in the busyness of life: our identity.

This is not determined by what we accomplish, what others think of us, or what we have failed to do. Our identity is found in God’s love.

The first epistle of John was written to believers who were facing confusion, false teaching, and pressure from people who had departed from the Christian faith. John wanted to remind them of something foundational: their identity and assurance are rooted in God's love and their relationship with Christ.

John begins with an invitation to “see” or consider carefully the kind of love the Father has given us. This is not ordinary love. God has not merely shown kindness toward us; He has brought us into His family and given us the identity of His children.

Notice John’s emphasis: “And that is what we are!”

Being a child of God is not a title we earn through good behavior or religious achievements. It is a gift of grace. Our obedience doesn't earn God's love; rather, because we have received His love, we are motivated to live as His children.

Practical action steps this week --

1. Start your mornings with a declaration:
“Father, thank You that I am Your child. Help me live today from Your love, not for people's approval.”

2. Stop one comparison. When you catch yourself comparing your life, appearance, success, or progress with someone else's, say: “My identity is found in Christ.”

Stop striving to prove your worth and start living from the security of knowing you are already deeply loved by your Father.

You are not merely someone God tolerates.
You are His child. And that is what you are. 🩵💙
