RAPTURE vs. SECOND COMING
A. INTRODUCTION
1. God has 2 Elects: Israel and Believers in Christ (The Church or the Bride of Jesus Christ)
2. And God has 2 Covenants/Agreements for these 2 Elects:
a. Covenant of the Law (Old Testament/Covenant) is for Israel (12 Tribes of Jacob)
b. Covenant of Grace (New Testament/Covenant) is for the whole world (Israel and Gentiles)
3. This is why Jesus' Second Coming has 2 Phases:
a. For the Believers in Christ - To bring them all to Heaven - each with gloirified body, soul and spirit - through the RAPTURE (before the 7 years of Tribulation/God's Wrath here on Earth; John 14, 1 Cor 15, 1 Thess 5)
b. For Israel - To save Israel - militarily and spiritually - at the end of the 7 years of Tribulation here on Earth; Daniel 9, Zech 12, Matthew 24)
B. So, "WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RAPTURE & THE SECOND COMING?
There are eight contrasts between the two.
THE NATURE OF THE SECOND COMING – The fact that the Rapture and the Second Coming are seen as two separate events, shows that they can’t be simultaneous. This destroys the post-tribulation Rapture theory. Let’s look at these differences:
1. AT THE RAPTURE (1 Thess 5): The saints meet Christ in the air.
AT THE SECOND COMING: Christ returns to earth. (Zech. 12, Rev 19)
2. AT THE RAPTURE: The Mount of Olives is untouched.
AT THE SECOND COMING: The Mount of Olives splits
3. AT THE RAPTURE: Living saints are translated (with glorified bodies fit for Heaven/Eternity)
AT THE SECOND COMING: No saints are translated.
4. AT THE RAPTURE: The body goes to heaven.
AT THE SECOND COMING: The body comes back to earth.
5. AT THE RAPTURE: Christ comes for His saints. (1 Thess. 5)
AT THE SECOND COMING: Christ comes with His saints (Rev. 19), to save Israel.
6. AT THE RAPTURE: The world is not judged and sin gets worse.
AT THE SECOND COMING: The world is judged and sin is dealt with.
7. AT THE RAPTURE: This is not preceded by detailed signs or warnings.
AT THE SECOND COMING: This is preceded by specific detailed signs. (Mattew 24)
8. AT THE RAPTURE: Concerns only the saved.
AT THE SECOND COMING: Concerns the saved and the lost."
C. CONCLUSION
Now, ARE YOU READY to meet our Lord God - JESUS CHRIST?
To GOD Be All Glory!
