Word from the Pulpit: The Danger of Losing the Fear of God
— The fear of God is not a terror that makes us run away from Him; it is a holy reverence that causes us to recognize His greatness, authority, purity, and holiness. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” When this holy fear is present, we become careful with our choices because we understand that God is not only our Savior—He is also our Lord.

One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is not simply committing sin, but becoming comfortable with sin. A heart that once trembled at disobedience can slowly become accustomed to it. What used to bring conviction can eventually become something we justify. What Scripture calls holiness can begin to appear “too much,” while compromise begins to appear reasonable.

Romans 3:18 describes those who live in rebellion: “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” The absence of the fear of God affects the way a person sees sin, obedience, correction, worship, and even God’s Word.

When the fear of God is restored, our perspective changes. We begin to hate what God hates, love what God loves, and desire to please Him even when nobody is watching.

The fear of God protects us from becoming familiar with what is holy and comfortable with what is sinful.

REVIVAL SUNDAY | AUGUST 23, 2026
Church family, tomorrow is Revival Sunday.

Let us come together with one heart and one hunger for God. We will continue our discussion on THE AWE OF GOD and uncover the dangers of losing our reverence and holy fear of the Lord.

Tomorrow, we will have:
POWERFUL PRAISE & WORSHIP — let us lift up Jesus with all our hearts.
PRAYING WITH OTHERS — let us stand together in faith and agreement.
TESTIMONY — let us celebrate the faithfulness and goodness of God.
THE WORD — let us receive truth that will challenge, strengthen, and transform us.

Church, let us not lose the awe of God. May we never become so familiar with holy things that we forget how holy our God is.

Come early. Come hungry. Come expectant. Come ready to encounter His presence.

Glory Night Takeaways: GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT
Ephesians 4:30 — “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

The Holy Spirit is not merely a force or an emotion. He is the divine Person who lives within us, guides us, convicts us, comforts us, and leads us into the will of God. Because He is a Person, our words, attitudes, choices, and lifestyle can either honor Him or grieve Him.

We grieve the Holy Spirit when we speak carelessly—when our words become instruments of anger, gossip, lies, criticism, or destruction instead of grace and truth. Our mouths reveal what is happening in our hearts.

We also grieve Him when we live contrary to God’s will. The Holy Spirit leads us toward holiness, obedience, forgiveness, love, and righteousness. When we knowingly resist His conviction and choose our own desires, we are resisting the One who is leading us closer to Christ.

And we grieve Him when we return to the very things God called us to leave behind. Going back to old sinful patterns, old compromises, and an old way of life can harden our hearts toward His voice. God calls us forward, not backward.

But grieving the Holy Spirit is also a call to repentance. When He convicts us, we should not ignore Him—we should respond. Conviction is not rejection; it is God’s loving invitation to return to Him.

WORD FROM THE PULPIT: THE DANGER OF LOSING THE FEAR OF GOD
— The fear of God is not simply being afraid of God. It is recognizing who He is—His holiness, majesty, authority, righteousness, and glory—and responding to Him with reverence, humility, obedience, and honor.

One of the greatest dangers in our generation is not that people have no knowledge of God, but that we can become too familiar with God without remaining reverent toward Him.

When the fear of God is lost, sin becomes casual, worship becomes routine, obedience becomes optional, and the presence of God can be treated lightly.

But when the fear of God is restored, something changes within us.

We become careful with our words.
We become serious about holiness.
We become sensitive to His presence.
We become willing to obey even when obedience is costly.
We begin to value what God values and hate what He hates.

The fear of God does not push us away from Him—it teaches us how to approach Him properly.

David understood this. Isaiah encountered it. Moses experienced it. The early Church walked in it.

Acts 9:31 says that the church walked “in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.”

Notice the balance: fear of the Lord and comfort of the Holy Spirit.

We need both.

The Holy Spirit comforts us, but He never teaches us to become careless with God. Grace gives us access to God, but grace never gives us permission to dishonor Him.

May we never lose our holy reverence.

May our worship remain sincere.
May our obedience remain costly.
May our hearts remain tender.
May we tremble at His Word.
May we honor His presence.

A church that fears God will not merely seek His blessings—it will seek His heart.

Lord, restore in us the fear of the Lord. Remove casual Christianity, spiritual pride, and careless living. Give us hearts that honor Your holiness, tremble at Your Word, and love Your presence.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10

May we never become so familiar with God that we forget how awesome He is.

Fear God. Honor God. Obey God. Walk with God.

Revival is not about a loud service.
It is about a hungry heart meeting a living God.

Maybe you’ve been tired.
Maybe your fire has become a little dim.
Maybe you’ve been carrying battles no one knows about.

Come anyway.

Because sometimes, one moment in God’s presence is enough to remind you why you started, strengthen you to keep going, and awaken something you thought was already dead.

Tomorrow, we are not coming for a routine.

We are coming for an encounter.
We are coming for His presence.
We are coming for fresh fire.

GLORY NIGHT TAKEAWAY: THE SYMBOLS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT 🕊️
— The Bible uses the dove as a beautiful picture of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove (Matthew 3:16).

The dove reminds us of the gentleness, purity, peace, and presence of the Holy Spirit. He does not come to crush us but to draw us closer to God, comfort us in our weakness, and lead us into truth.

But the Holy Spirit is not only gentle—He is also powerful.

The same Spirit who comforts us is the Spirit who transforms us. He convicts our hearts, renews our minds, strengthens our faith, empowers our witness, and produces Christlike character within us.

The Holy Spirit does not simply want to visit our lives; He wants to transform our lives.
He comforts the broken.
He corrects the wandering.
He strengthens the weak.
He purifies the heart.
He empowers the believer.

So, never mistake His gentleness for weakness. The dove is gentle, but the Spirit is powerful.

When we truly know the Holy Spirit, we learn to welcome His presence, listen to His voice, obey His leading, and surrender to His transforming work.

Don’t just seek the experience of the Holy Spirit—seek the transformation that His presence produces in you.

Knowing the Holy Spirit means allowing Him to change us from the inside out.

WORD FROM THE PULPIT: GOD IS OUR HIDING PLACE.
— There are moments when life becomes overwhelming.

When disaster comes.
When everything feels uncertain.
When the world around us is shaking.
When we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

In those moments, God is our hiding place.

Psalm 46:1 says:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Our money cannot always protect us.
Our plans cannot always save us.
People cannot always be there for us.

But God is always present.

When there is catastrophe, we don’t have to live in fear. We can run to God—not because we believe nothing difficult will ever happen, but because we know that even in the middle of trouble, God will not abandon us.

Sometimes, faith is not about having all the answers.

Sometimes, faith simply says:
“Lord, I don’t understand what is happening, but I know where I can hide.”

You can cry in His presence.
You can surrender your fears to Him.
You can rest in His promises.
You can trust Him when everything around you feels unstable.

God is not only our refuge when the storm is over.
He is our refuge while we are still in the storm.

So if you are facing a difficult situation today, don’t run away from God.

Run to Him.

Hide in His presence.
Trust His heart.
Hold on to His Word.

Because when everything else is shaking, God remains unshaken.
