Do you still remember being a child? Do you still remember how it felt like to be a child? We may remember how great, cheerful, and care-free that stage of our lives was, but we are suppose to grow up and be adults to handle grown-up stuff like LIFE. But Jesus said in Luke 18:17 that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless we become like children. How is that possible?
Children are naturally trusting and open to new experiences, and they do not question or doubt in the same way that adults do. Jesus is saying that in order to enter the kingdom of God, one must have this same kind of trust and faith. This verse also teaches about humility. Children are naturally humble, and they do not have the same kind of ego or pride that adults often have. They do not see themselves as better or more important than others. Jesus is saying that in order to enter the kingdom of God, one must have this same kind of humility.
Furthermore, this verse is emphasizing the importance of innocence, children are not corrupted by the world yet, they don't have prejudices, they don't hold grudges, they don't discriminate and they forgive easily. Jesus is saying that in order to enter the kingdom of God, one must have this same kind of innocence.
This is a reminder that in order to enter the kingdom of God, one must have the same kind of trust, faith, humility and innocence that a child has. It calls for a childlike approach to God, a pure and simple approach. It encourages us to let go of our adult preconceptions and biases, and to approach God with an open heart and a willingness to learn and grow.
