THE FOUR MARIAN DOGMAS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

The Catholic Church teaches four Marian dogmas—official truths of the faith that every Catholic is called to believe. These are the Divine Motherhood, the Perpetual Virginity of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Far from taking attention away from Christ, these dogmas highlight God's saving plan and the unique role Mary was given in the mystery of salvation. They remind us that Mary is the Mother of God, remained ever-virgin, was preserved from original sin by God's grace from the first moment of her conception, and, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.
