History of Evangelization
On October 30,1973, Msgr. Sin, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Jaro made his first pastoral visit to the town of Maasin. Pedro Esmalla, the parish priest and Fr. Anastacio Villanueva the assistant parish priest of the town presented their plan to Msgr. Sin of the possibility of setting up a parish and the center is Barangay Layog which has 14 neighboring barangays b

ecause of their distance from the town it is very difficult for the community to go to church. These barangays are as follows: Trangka, Dagami, Ubian, Bolo, Panalian, Canawili, Subog, Nasuli, Dalusan, Abilay, Cabangcalan, and Tuy-an West and Layog where the center of the parish is located.

​Today, the entire Archdiocese of Jaro celebrates with deep joy and thanksgiving to God for the Episcopal Anniversary of our shepherd, Most Rev. Midyphil "Dodong" B. Billones, DD, Metropolitan Archbishop of Jaro.

​Thank you for seven fruitful years of selfless service, teaching, and spiritual leadership. Let us all join hands and hearts in prayer as he continues to lead and guide our community with love and dedication.

Magabalik na sa liwat ang aton Children's Ministry.

Tinutuyo sini nga programa amo nga mapalapit ang mga bata sa balay sang Ginoo, kay tama gid ka importante ang ila bahin sa pagtubo sang bwas damlag sang aton simbahan kag parokya🤗.

Ang aton Childrens Ministry magasugod na liwat bwas nga adlaw, Agosto 15- Sabado, sa takna nga alas- 2 sa hapon.

JUST IN: The Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Most Rev. Midyphil B. Billones, D.D., Metropolitan Archbishop of Jaro, as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kabankalan.

The appointment, made public today through CBCP News, was announced in a letter from the Dicastery for Bishops dated August 11, 2026, and released this Friday.

As Metropolitan Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator, Archbishop Billones will shepherd the Diocese of Kabankalan—one of the suffragan dioceses of the Archdiocese of Jaro—in a "caretaker capacity" until the Holy Father appoints and installs a new bishop.

We accompany Archbishop Billones with our prayers and support as he tends to the wider flock entrusted to his care. Likewise, we lift up the Local Church of Kabankalan in prayer, that the Lord may soon grant them a new shepherd who will minister and journey with them after the Heart of Jesus.

LOOK: ASSUMPTA EST MARIA! Tomorrow, August 15, 2026, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Vigil Mass in anticipation of this great feast will be celebrated on the late afternoon of August 14, 2026. The proper prayers and readings for the Vigil must be observed, and the liturgical color is White or Gold.

On August 15, 2026, the Mass of the Solemnity will be celebrated throughout the day. The proper texts and readings for the Mass of the Day will be used, with White or Gold vestments.

Please note: there will be no anticipation of the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, as the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary takes precedence over Sundays in Ordinary Time.

Let us rejoice with the whole Church in honoring Our Lady, assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. Be guided accordingly, and have a blessed Solemnity of Our Lady’s Assumption!
