O Mary conceived without original sin, pray for us especially the youth, who have recourse to thee!

This prayer comes from the Miraculous Medal, which is a small medal often worn by Catholics. In 1830, a young French nun named Catherine LabourΓ© had several visions of Mary.

In one of these visions, she saw Mary standing on a globe with a snake (Satan) under her feet. Around the image of Mary, Catherine saw the words β€œO Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.” Mary asked Catherine to have medals made in her likeness, telling Catherine that those who wore the medal and confidently prayed the prayer on it would receive great graces. It’s come to be called the Miraculous Medal because some who wear it prayerfully have reported what they claim to be miraculous occurrences.

The Miraculous Medal is one of those Catholic traditions that is easy to misunderstand. To regard it as a β€œmagic charm,” as many do, is to ignore the fact that it is nothing without faith and prayer. The prayer itself is notable for two things: 1), it is a statement of the Immaculate Conception (the Catholic belief that Mary was conceived without sin); and 2), it is a reminder that when we pray to Mary, we are recognizing her as an intercessor on our behalf, not as the source of grace herself (note that the medal asks Mary to β€œpray for us,” not to get in and magically fix things herself).

"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee” Amen.

A blessed day to everyone on this SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION!

POV: BARDAGULAN TUWING ADVENT SEASON BE LIKE: πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

Signs and Symbols have their significance in the Liturgy. If it is done right, then there would no be confusion on the parishioner's end. Sadly, most decorators try to overdo their wreath each time of the year just to prove their design prowess to the point that the wreath becomes more prominent and visible than the candles (most especially when it is decorated with LED Christmas Lights and unnecessary designs.)

But what does the General Instruction for the Roman Missal (GIRM) tell is about decorations?

According to GIRM 305, moderation should be observed during this season, most especially when it comes to floral decoration. "During Advent the floral decoration of the altar should be marked by a moderation suited to the character of this time of year, without expressing in anticipation the full joy of the Nativity of the Lord."

Let it be known that the season of advent is a season of moderation, where in we await and prepare for the humble yet grand celebration.

So, now, what's the rule in making an advent wreath?β€”Make it simple!

Advent is a season of hope, the hope that God puts into our hearts. In some obscure way, we all long for a new beginning. We long to shed the burden of the past, to rediscover within ourselves a hope that longs for the future, that is ready to begin anew.

Repentance is something more than a reluctant confession of past wrongdoing. Repentance is a whole new way of thinking and change of attitudes. We begin to believe that in Christ we can become what was promised long ago. We begin to believe that the Spirit that descended on Jesus can transform our lives, filling them with hope. We begin to believe in the peace that Christ alone can bring to our troubled hearts and broken world.

Advent is a good time to repent, to forgive and be forgiven, and to rediscover the precious gift of inner peace. We begin with those closest to us, our own family and friends. Without such repentance the Christmas we prepare is mere tinsel.

Viva Cristo Rey!

Feast of Christ the King, also called Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, festival celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church in honor of Jesus Christ as Lord over all creation. Essentially a magnification of the Feast of the Ascension, it was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925. Originally, it was celebrated on the last Sunday in October, but in the revised liturgical calendar promulgated by Pope Paul VI in 1969 it was moved to the last Sunday of Ordinary Time (immediately preceding Advent), where its theme of Christ’s dominion made it a fitting end to the liturgical year.
