The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is aiding in emergency efforts in Argentina after a large forest fire and landslide.

According to reporting from the Associated Press, thousands of people have been forced to evacuate due to the wildfires in the Andean region of the Argentine province of Chubut. The fires have devastated more than 120,000 acres of Argentina’s forests in the last month and a half.

The Church made a donation of essential equipment to the Trevelin Volunteer Firefighters Association in order to strengthen emergency response and support the work of those on the front lines.

Despite the rain, hundreds of people honored the Church leader by lining the route to the cemetery, which included several landmarks meaningful to President Holland and his family, such as the St. George Utah Temple, the St. George Tabernacle, his childhood home and the Jeffrey R. Holland Centennial Commons at Utah Tech University.

Holland, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at approximately 3:15 a.m. MST from complications associated with kidney disease, while surrounded by his family. He was 85.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced funeral services for President Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

President Holland died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at 3:15 a.m. of complications associated with kidney disease. He was 85.

Funeral services will be held in the Tabernacle on Temple Square on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m.

Brethren, I think back on that 11-year-old boy in Frankfurt, Germany, who worried about his future and felt the lasting sting of unkind remarks. I remember this time with a sort of sad fondness.

While I would not be eager to relive those days of trial and trouble, I have little doubt that the lessons I learned were a necessary preparation for future opportunity.

Now, many years later, I know this for a certainty: it is often in the trial of adversity that we learn those most critical lessons that form our character and shape our destiny.

Youth Temple Trip
June 15,2024

Youth from Lupao Ward bring the name of their ancestors to the temple to do the proxy baptism and confirmation on behalf of those who were dead.

Most of them are doing it for the first time and they are looking forward to their next temple trip as they prepare more of the names of their ancestors.
