“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” ❤️

Today, the Luna Parish Youth Ministry successfully conducted its Balik-Eskwela Outreach Program at St. Anthony de Padua Parish with the theme, “In the Footsteps of Saint Anthony: Nurturing Through Education.”

Through the generosity and kindness of our sponsors and benefactors, a total of 31 students — from Elementary to College — coming from the different gimongs of the parish received an “Envelope of Hope” containing school supplies and hygiene materials for the upcoming school year. 📚✏️🧴

More than the items distributed, this outreach became a reminder that when a community comes together in faith, compassion, and service, lives are nurtured and hopes are strengthened. Inspired by the example of St. Anthony de Padua, may we continue to become instruments of love and support, especially to the youth.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all our generous benefactors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who supported our fundraising efforts. Your kindness made this mission possible, and your generosity became a source of hope and encouragement to our young beneficiaries and their families.

Together, let us continue empowering the youth through education and faith. ❤️

𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝟮: 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮 𝗦𝗡𝗔𝗣𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗦!

The final day of the youth camp became a meaningful time of reflection, healing, and deeper connection as participants shared words of appreciation, expressed emotions they had long carried, and surrendered their worries and struggles to God. These activities helped the youth realize that their journey of faith is shared, that they are guided, and that they never walk alone.

The camp concluded with the Eucharistic Mass and awarding of certificates, ending the journey with gratitude, joy, and memories that the participants will continue to carry beyond the camp.

Trusting the Lord as the captain of their lives, 120 young people of the Luna Parish Youth Ministry embarked on a spiritual voyage during the two-day Parish Youth Camp held at the St. Anthony of Padua Parish grounds, which officially opened earlier today, May 7, 2026.

Anchored on the goal of deepening faith, strengthening fellowship, and nurturing servant leadership among the youth, the camp seeks to guide participants toward a more meaningful relationship with God while encouraging unity and active involvement in the Church community.⛪💗

The first day of the camp was filled with meaningful activities, including Bible Quiz Bee, team building games, reflection sessions, and moments of prayer and adoration.😇

Through the day’s activities, many participants were reminded to place their trust in Christ and allow Him to guide their lives and relationships with others.

As the camp continues on its second day, participants are expected to take part in deeper reflection sessions and activities that encourage healing and spiritual growth.🙏🏼✨

Seventeen delegates from St. Anthony de Padua Parish took part in the 13th Vicariate Summer Youth Camp held from April 29 to May 2, 2026, at Lubuagan, Kalinga, joining fellow young people from across Kalinga and Apayao in an encounter centered on faith, formation, and fellowship.

The camp, with the theme “𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦: 𝘈𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵, 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦”, included Eucharistic celebrations and plenary talks that aimed to deepen spiritual formation and empower the youth’s role in the church today. They were given opportunities to reflect on their mission and to take on the challenges of their generation with renewed faith and purpose.

As the camp concluded, the experience left a lasting impact on the delegates, forming them as young people anchored in Christ, living in hope, ready to carry their faith into action and service.

Depression is not a weakness.

And just because the term “mental health” was not commonly used in the 1500s does not mean it did not exist.

People in St. Teresa of Ávila’s time did not have the language we have today. There were no psychological diagnoses, no clinical terms, no therapy models. But human hearts were still human. Minds still struggled. Emotions still broke under pressure.

Silence in history does not mean absence of suffering.

St. Teresa endured long seasons of interior darkness, discouragement, exhaustion, chronic illness, and deep spiritual dryness. There were times she could not pray well. Times she doubted herself. Times she felt torn, weak, and overwhelmed.

If she lived today, some of what she experienced might be described as anxiety, burnout, or depression.

But here is the truth:

DEPRESSION IS NOT A WEAKNESS.
It is not laziness.
It is not lack of faith.
It is not a punishment from God.

It is a real human experience that affects the mind, the body, and the soul.

Just because older spiritual writings did not use modern psychological terms does not mean people were immune to emotional suffering. They simply described it differently: dryness, heaviness, melancholy, desolation, darkness.

The vocabulary changes.
The human struggle remains.

St. Teresa became a Doctor of the Church not because she never struggled, but because she persevered through her struggles. Holiness is not emotional perfection. Strength is not the absence of tears.

Strength is staying.
Strength is seeking help.
Strength is choosing hope while feeling heavy.

If you are battling depression today, hear this clearly:

You are not weak.
You are not spiritually inferior.
You are not alone.

And your struggle does not disqualify you from greatness, purpose, or holiness.

Mary, Comfort of the Afflicted, and Sta. Teresa de Jesus of Ávila, pray for those who feel unseen, unheard, and exhausted today. Amen.
