At Calvary
Upon the hill of Calvary,
A cross stood in the sky,
The Son of God, our Savior,
Was lifted there to die.
The nails pierced through His hands and feet,
The crown of thorns was worn,
Yet through His pain, He chose to love
A world that left Him scorned.
The darkness covered all the land,
As Jesus cried in pain,
“Father, forgive them,” He declared—
His love would still remain.
Between two thieves, He hung upon
The cross for you and me;
The innocent One bore our sin,
To set our souls free.
Then Jesus said, “It is finished,”
And bowed His head to die.
The price for sin was paid in full,
The veil was torn nearby.
But death could never hold the King—
The grave could not prevail.
He rose again, victorious,
And death itself was nailed.
So when I look upon the cross,
I see amazing grace:
The Savior gave His life for me,
That I might see God’s face.
