HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEM. LANCE MARION B. TAN!

Today, we join in prayer and thanksgiving as we celebrate the birthday of our dear brother in Christ.
We are deeply grateful to God for the gift of his life and for his generous, faithful response to the call of the Lord. His dedication to his studies, formation, and service to the Church continues to be a beautiful inspiration to our entire community.
May the Lord continue to guide his steps, fill his heart with wisdom and peace, and grant him the grace of perseverance on his journey toward the priesthood.

Did you know the Monday after Pentecost is now the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church? Pope Francis added it to the universal calendar in 2018, to remind us that Christian life is anchored in the cross, the Eucharist, and the maternal care of Mary.

The title “Mother of the Church” flows from the scene at the cross in John 19, where Jesus gives Mary to the beloved disciple — and, through him, to all disciples. Vatican II and St. Paul VI formally highlighted this, calling Mary Mater Ecclesiae, and St. John Paul II deepened that devotion with his motto Totus tuus and the “Mater Ecclesiae” mosaic overlooking St. Peter’s Square.

This memorial invites pastors, religious, and all the faithful to grow in a “maternal sense” of the Church and in genuine Marian piety: seeing Mary as our spiritual mother who guides the pilgrim Church toward her Son.
