When I ask myself why I decided to serve a mission, the answer is simple: I have experienced the transforming love, grace, and hand of Jesus Christ. For a long time, two words stayed on my mind: wondering and waiting. There were dark moments when I stumbled because of my weaknesses, feeling inadequate and facing blurry, uncertain times. But in those exact moments, Jesus met me. He didn't just give me peace; He became my peace and brought light into my darkness. His everlasting gospel fills my life in a way the world never could, showing me that no matter the question or the wait, Christ is always the answer.
In my preparation to serve, I wrestled with deep questions. In the middle of attending church, seminary, and reading scriptures, I stopped and asked myself: "Do I really know my Savior, or do I just know about Him?" and "Am I truly following Him, or do I just believe in Him?" I realized those things aren't just habits to check offโthey are about changing my heart and becoming more like Jesus. Our Heavenly Father loves us so deeply that He provided a Savior whose Atonement is infinite and whose grace is sufficient for every burden. Christ didn't just give me answers; He changed my heart, showing me that His love is the ultimate source of healing and wholeness.
I testify that Jesus Christ is the living water that sustains, cleanses, and restores us. He leads us through living prophets today, including President Dallin H. Oaks, and the fullness of His gospel is found in the Book of Mormon to remind us that we are never alone and that we matter to Him. I am deeply grateful that He called the Prophet Joseph Smith to restore His Church so we can feel His presence today. Giving 18 months of service is nothing compared to the joy of walking alongside our Lordโand helping others discover that exact same joy for themselves. My prayer is simply to reflect His light, so that through my service, people can find the boundless hope, mercy, and peace that only come through Jesus Christ and His infinite Atonement. He loves and knows you perfectly!
