KASILAK | The Fluvial Procession is one of the treasured traditions of the Our Lady of Light Shrine Parish - Loon, done a day before the novena in honor of the Blessed Virgin. The solemn procession takes place in the waters of Loon and is joined by the local mananagat, who offer this act of faith as thanksgiving and a prayer for God's blessings upon the sea and an abundant catch.

For many years now, the Replica Mayor of the Birhen sa Kasilak has accompanied the faithful throughout this sacred tradition

Upon arriving at the Tulay of Napo, the mananagat traditionally carry the image of Birhen sa Kasilak back to the church, expressing their deep devotion and gratitude to their Holy Mother.

According to some accounts, several mananagat have witnessed extraordinary apparitions of the Birhen sa Kasilak while at sea. They describe seeing a radiant and glowing figure of the Blessed Virgin illuminating the waters, a sight that has strengthened the faith of many. Even today, stories of similar experiences continue to be shared, further deepening the devotion of the faithful and in the maternal presence and intercession of Our Lady of Light among the people of Loon and her devotees

Today, we celebrate Mother's Day. We express our sincere love and gratitude to the wonderful mothers out there. To the mothers who stood up as our guide and courage, and to those that were behind every investiture of altar servers; a reason why we are in this ministry today.

We also honor our patron, Our Lady of Light, who continued to share her light with us in order for our paths to be clear, a way of getting closer to God.

A Primer on the Episcopal Coat of Arms of
His Excellency, Most Rev. Gerardo Fortich S**o Jr., D.D. | 8th Bishop of Tagbilaran

An episcopal coat of arms is an insignia coming from centuries of tradition called heraldry that depicts the identity of a bishop in his ministry to the Church. Through the symbols of the coat of arms of our new bishop, we are called to learn his inspirations in life and his calling to serve as a shepherd to his flock here in the Diocese of Tagbilaran.

The personal coat of arms of Bishop-elect S**o is found in the sinister (right of viewer) side while the coat of arms of the Diocese of Tagbilaran is found in the dexter (left of viewer) side of the emblem. Under the coat of arms is the Bishop’s motto, "𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐄𝐆𝐎 𝐒𝐕𝐌" or “Take courage, it is I” from Matthew 14:27, Jesus’ remarks to His disciples coming to the boat where they were on while walking on the waters of the Sea of Galilee.

The Knights of the Altar of Our Lady of Light Shrine Parish extends it its sincere gratitude and congratulatory remarks for our Grade 12 Altar Servers who had just graduated High School and is now ready to embark on a new journey full of new growth and experiences. Their service in the ministry will never be forgotten as they had made their own impact. We pray that may God grant them guidance and wisdom as they say farewell to the old chapter in their books.
