HAPPY FEAST DAY,
SAINTS SIMON AND
JUDE THADDEUS,
Apostles of the Lord!
OCTOBER 28

Saints Simon and Jude Thaddeus – Apostles of Faith and Zeal

On October 28, the Church joyfully celebrates the feast of Saints Simon and Jude Thaddeus, two of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus to be His closest followers and witnesses of the Gospel. Their lives stand as radiant examples of faith, courage, and steadfast commitment to spreading the Good News in the face of trials and persecution.

Saint Simon the Zealot

Saint Simon, often called Simon the Zealot, earned his title either because of his passionate zeal for God’s law or his association with a Jewish movement that sought the liberation of Israel. Despite his fiery nature, Simon’s zeal was transformed by his encounter with Christ into a burning love for the Kingdom of God. Tradition tells us that he preached the Gospel in Egypt, Persia, and parts of Africa, bringing countless souls to Christ through his fervent witness and unwavering faith.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, Patron of Hope

Saint Jude, also known as Thaddeus, was a relative of Jesus and the brother of Saint James the Less. He is famously recognized as the Patron Saint of desperate and impossible causes, offering hope to those in despair. In the Gospel of John (14:22), Jude asked Jesus, “Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”—a question that reveals his deep longing for the whole world to experience Christ’s saving presence.

Jude’s Epistle, one of the shortest books in the New Testament, reflects his passionate defense of the faith against false teachings and his call for perseverance and mercy. His writings remind believers to “build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 1:20).

Their Shared Mission and Martyrdom

According to tradition, Saints Simon and Jude traveled together to Persia (modern-day Iran) to proclaim the Gospel. There, they endured persecution and were ultimately martyred for their faith. Their courage in dying for Christ stands as a powerful witness to the strength of conviction that comes from a life rooted in divine love.

Legacy of Faith and Intercession

Today, the faithful around the world turn to Saint Jude for hope in impossible situations and to Saint Simon for the grace of holy zeal in serving God. Their shared feast day invites Christians to rekindle their own apostolic spirit—to be courageous witnesses of truth and love in a world that still thirsts for Christ.

May Saints Simon and Jude Thaddeus intercede for us, that we may live with faith as bold as theirs, serve with love as selfless as theirs, and one day share in their eternal joy with the Lord.

Prayer:

O glorious Apostles, Saints Simon and Jude,
faithful followers of Christ and fearless preachers of His word,
intercede for us that we may remain steadfast in faith and rich in love.
Help us in our trials, and guide us to eternal life through your prayers.
Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary
O Most Pure Heart of Mary,
full of goodness,
show your love towards us.
Let the flame of your heart, O Mary,
descend on all people.
We love you immensely.
Image of Sacred Heart of Mary
Impress on our hearts true love
so that we may long for you.
O Mary, gentle and humble of heart,
remember us when we sin.
You know that all people sin.
Grant that through your most pure and motherly heart,
we may be healed from every spiritual sickness.
Grant that we may always experience the goodness of your motherly heart, and that through the flame of your heart we may be converted. Amen.

The Rosary is a long chain that links heaven and earth. One end of it is in our hands and the other end is in the hands of the Holy Virgin...The Rosary prayer rises like incense to the feet of the Almighty.

“Each bead is a step towards the Heart of Jesus through the Heart of Mary.”
— St. Maximilian Kolbe

🌹 The Rosary — A Journey Through the Heart of Mary to Jesus

Every bead of the Rosary carries a whisper of grace. When our fingers trace those small spheres, our hearts are drawn closer to Christ through the gentle intercession of His Mother, Mary. St. Maximilian Kolbe’s profound words remind us that prayer is not just repetition—it is a pilgrimage of love.

The Rosary: A Chain of Grace

The Rosary is often described as a “spiritual ladder.” Each Hail Mary is a rung that lifts us higher, from the noise of the world toward the silence of divine peace. As we meditate on the mysteries of Christ’s life—His joy, sorrow, glory, and light—we begin to see the story of our own lives reflected in His. Through Mary’s eyes, we understand the tenderness, sacrifice, and love that fill each moment of salvation history.

Mary: The Pathway to Christ

Mary does not keep us for herself; she leads us directly to her Son. Her heart, pure and open, is the gateway to Jesus’ mercy. When we hold the Rosary, we are not alone—we walk hand in hand with the Mother who stood beneath the Cross and rejoiced at the Resurrection. Through her, we learn how to say “yes” to God, even when the path is steep.

Each Bead, a Prayer of Love

Each bead represents not only a prayer but also an offering—of faith, of trust, and of hope. It becomes a step in the soul’s journey, a heartbeat echoing the rhythm of heaven. As the beads pass through our fingers, our worries are replaced with peace, our doubts with faith, and our hearts with a deeper love for Christ.

Conclusion

The Rosary is more than devotion; it is communion. It brings heaven into our hands and turns moments of solitude into encounters with divine love. Truly, as St. Maximilian Kolbe said, “Each bead is a step towards the Heart of Jesus through the Heart of Mary.”

When we pray it with sincerity, each bead becomes a bridge—linking our earthly hearts to the eternal heart of God.
