Are you enduring something that seems impossible to overcome? Turn to Saint Rita of Cascia, an incredibly powerful intercessor!

The Catholic Church celebrates the memorial of Saint Rita of Cascia on May 22. She is the patroness of impossible causes, difficult marriages, infertility, and parenthood.

This amazing saint led an amazingly holy life. She married a cruel and abusive man, whom she prayed for unceasingly. With him, she had two difficult children. They all eventually converted before their deaths.

After her husband and two sons died, she became an Augustinian nun. She later received the head wound of Christ.

Saint Rita died on May 22, 1457, at approximately 76 years old. Her body is incorrupt and venerated at the Basilica of Santa Rita da Cascia in Cascia, Italy. Pope Leo XIII canonized her on May 24, 1900.

On the 100th anniversary of her canonization, Pope John Paul II said,

"If we ask St. Rita for the secret to this extraordinary work of social and spiritual renewal, she replies: fidelity to the Love that was crucified. Rita, with Christ and like Christ, goes to the Cross always and only through love. Like her, then, let us turn our eyes and hearts to Jesus, who died on the Cross and rose for our salvation."

Saint Rita is a very powerful intercessor, especially known for her help through difficult situations.

Countless miracles are attributed to her intercession.

For example, Saint Rita's intercession cured a blind girl named Elizabeth Bergamini. Smallpox blinded her, and her doctors considered her case hopeless. Her healing was one of three miracles that resulted in Rita's canonization.

Another miracle involved the healing of Cosma (Cosimo) Pellegrini of an incurable intestinal disease.

Pellegrini endured chronic catarrhal gastroenteritis and an incurable hemorrhoidal condition. His cause was also considered hopeless; however, after experiencing a vision of Blessed Rita, his strength returned, and he was completely healed. This miracle resulted in her canonization.

“The Rosary has the power to slay dragons, convert sinners, and conquer hearts.”
— Fr. Donald H. Calloway, MIC

When Fr. Donald H. Calloway says the Rosary can “slay dragons, convert sinners, and conquer hearts,” he is not talking about fantasy or magic. He is talking about spiritual battles that are very real.

The “dragons” are the sins, temptations, fears, addictions, pride, anger, and darkness that try to pull people away from God. The Rosary helps fight those battles by keeping your mind focused on Jesus through the eyes of His Mother. That is why so many saints held onto it so tightly.

The Rosary has changed hardened hearts, restored marriages, brought people back to confession, and given peace to people who felt completely lost. Not because the beads themselves have power, but because prayer opens the heart to God’s grace.

Scripture says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power” (James 5:16). The Rosary is not empty repetition when prayed with faith. It is meditation on the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.

A lot of people today treat the Rosary like an old tradition. But maybe the reason it has survived for centuries is because it actually changes people.

💬 Have you ever seen someone’s life genuinely change because of prayer?

Someone out there may be one Rosary away from hope again.

This Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Catholic Church grants a Plenary Indulgence to the faithful who publicly pray or sing the ancient hymn *Veni Creator Spiritus* under the usual conditions. ✨

Most Catholics have never heard about this.

But this is a real grace the Church offers every year on Pentecost.

A plenary indulgence is the complete remission of the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven in Confession. The Church teaches this flows from the mercy of Christ and the treasury of grace entrusted to His Church.

Pentecost is the day the Church remembers the Holy Spirit descending upon the Apostles in Jerusalem (Acts 2). The same Apostles who were hiding in fear suddenly went out and preached Christ publicly after receiving the Holy Spirit.

That should make all of us pause for a second.

The Church has prayed the *Veni Creator Spiritus* for centuries during Pentecost, ordinations, councils, confirmations, and other important moments when Catholics ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Here is the traditional English translation commonly used by Catholics:

“Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
And in our hearts take up Thy rest;
Come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

O Comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly Gift of God Most High,
O Fount of life and Fire of love,
And sweet Anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts art known;
Thou, Finger of God’s hand we own;
Thou, Promise of the Father, Thou
Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our sense from above,
And make our hearts o’erflow with love;
With patience firm and virtue high
The weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us Thy true peace instead;
So shall we not, with Thee for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know;
And Thee, through endless times confessed,
Of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death

Prayer to St. Rita of Cascia ( Patron Saint of Impossible Causes )

O Powerful St. Rita, rightly called Saint of the Impossible, I come to you with confidence in my great need. You know well my trials, for you yourself were many times burdened in this life. Come to my help, speak for me, pray with me, intercede on my behalf before the Father. I know that God has a most generous heart and that he is a most loving Father. Join your prayers to mine and obtain for me the grace I desire: (Share your request...) You who were so very pleasing to God on earth and are so much more now in heaven, I promise to use this favour, when granted, to better my life, to proclaim God's mercy, and to make you more widely known and loved.

Amen.

Prayer To St Rita

Dear St. Rita, during your entire life on earth you found your happiness by following the will of our heavenly Father. Help me to be as trusting of God in all His plans for me. Help me this day to give myself to Him as you did, without limit, without fear, without counting the cost. Help me to be generous in serving the needs of others, patient in all difficulties, forgiving toward all who injure me. Help me to learn more deeply the great mystery of the Cross of Jesus, so that by embracing it as you did, I may come to experience its power to heal and to save. Amen.

Prayer: Patroness of the Impossible

O Holy St Rita, we honour you for your devotion to the passion of Jesus. Despite your early life being filled with disappointment, frustration and unceasing tragedy, you never lost faith and trust in God. For this, you are the patroness of the impossible, and our inspiration and advocate in desperate circumstances. Amen.

St Rita of Cascia: Pray for Us.

Petition Prayer II

🛐(Holy Patroness of those in need, Saint Rita, so humble, pure and patient, whose pleadings with thy Divine Spouse are irresistible)

Obtain for me from thy Crucified Christ my request: (Share your request…). Be kind to me, for the greater glory of God, and I promise to honour thee and to sing thy praises forever. O Glorious St. Rita, who didst miraculously participate in the sorrowful Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, obtain for me the grace to suffer with resignation the troubles of this life, and protect me in all my needs. Amen.

Traditional Prayer of Intercession

Glorious St. Rita, O Holy Patroness of those in need, your intercession with our Lord is most powerful. Through the favours obtained by your prayers, you have been called the Advocate of the Hopeless and even of the Impossible. St. Rita, humble and pure; patient and compassionate lover of Christ Crucified! We have confidence that everyone who has recourse to you, will find comfort and relief. Listen to our petitions and show your power with God on our behalf. Obtain our petitions for us, if they are for the greater glory of God, and for our good. We promise, if our petitions are granted, to make known your favour, and to glorify God for His gift. Relying on your merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we ask of you: (Share your request…)
Obtain for us our request:
– by the singular merits of your childhood,
– by your perfect union with the Divine Will,
– by your heroic sufferings during your married life,
– by the consolation you experienced at the conversion of your husband,
– by the sacrifice of your children rather than see them grievously offend God,
– by your miraculous entrance into the convent,
– by your severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourging,
– by the suffering caused by the wound you received from the thorn of the Crucified Saviour,
– by the divine love which consumed your heart,
– by that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, on which alone you existed for four years,
– by the happiness with which you parted from your trials to join your Divine Spouse,
– by the perfect example you gave to people of every state of life.
Pray for us, O Holy St. Rita, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us Pray: Heavenly Father, in Your infinite love and mercy, you heed the prayer of Your beloved servant, Saint Rita. You graciously grant favours through her intercession, which are considered impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts. Relying on her compassionate love, we ask You to assist us in our trials and difficulties. Let unbelievers know that you are the helper of the humble, the defence of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in You. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

If you pray and still feel like God isn't listening... but you want to trust Him the way the saints did... this is what Mother Teresa did in her most desperate moments.

Many people know St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta for serving the poorest of the poor. But the sisters in her community also shared something deeply personal about the way she prayed in urgent situations: the “Flying Novena.”

And honestly, the way she prayed can make you realize how weak our trust in God has become.

When something serious happened, Mother Teresa would stop and pray the Memorare nine times in a row for a specific intention. Then she would pray it a tenth time in thanksgiving, trusting that the Blessed Virgin Mary was already interceding before she even saw the answer.

Think about that kind of faith for a moment.

Most people today pray while already preparing themselves for disappointment.

We ask God for help… while expecting silence.
We beg for peace… while feeding our panic.
We say we trust Him… but spend the rest of the night anxious and afraid.

Mother Teresa prayed like someone who truly believed Heaven was listening.

Not because she thought prayer was magic. Not because Catholics worship Mary. The Church has never taught that. She trusted that God hears the prayers of His people, and that the Blessed Virgin Mary lovingly intercedes for her spiritual children.

And some of the most broken moments in life are the moments when that trust matters most.

The diagnosis you weren’t prepared for.
The child who stopped believing.
The marriage hanging by a thread.
The anxiety nobody around you fully sees.

That is where many people stop praying.

Mother Teresa did the opposite.

Scripture says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find” (Matthew 7:7).

🙏 The Memorare Prayer:

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thine intercession,
was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Saint Dominic Savio (1842–1857) is one of the youngest saints in the history of the Church. He died at just 14 years old, yet his short life was filled with remarkable holiness and extraordinary spiritual gifts.

One of the most striking accounts from his life is his ability to sense when someone was approaching death. Dominic lived with such deep union with God that Heaven often seemed to whisper to him. He would suddenly become aware when a soul was in danger of dying without the sacraments.

In one well-documented story, Dominic was with a priest when he became restless and insisted they leave immediately. He guided the priest to a distant house, saying someone there urgently needed confession.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on his deathbed who had not yet received the Last Rites. Thanks to Dominic’s heavenly intuition, the priest was able to hear the man’s confession. The dying man received God’s mercy just in time and passed away peacefully in a state of grace.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. Several times, young Dominic showed this mysterious awareness of approaching death, always using it to bring souls closer to God rather than seeking attention for himself.

--------------
His life challenges all of us — especially young people — to live with radical purity, joyful obedience, and constant prayer. Dominic once said, “I can’t do big things, but I want to do everything, even the smallest things, for the love of God.”

May this holy boy-saint inspire us to stay close to Jesus every single day, so that when our own time comes, we too will be ready to meet Him.

St. Dominic Savio, pray for us! 🙏❤️

On May 16, the Catholic Church remembers Saint Simon Stock, a twelfth- and thirteenth-century Carmelite monk whose vision of the Virgin Mary is the source of the Brown Scapular devotion.

Simon was born during 1165 in the English county of Kent. He is said to have been strongly devoted to God from his youth, to the point that he left home at age 12 to live in the forest as a hermit. Following the customs of the earliest monks, he lived on fruit and water and spent his time in prayer and meditation.

After two decades of solitary life in the wilderness, he returned to society to acquire an education in theology and become a priest. Afterwards, he returned to his hermitage until the year 1212, when his calling to join the Carmelite Order – which had only recently entered England – was revealed to him.

During the early 13th century, a group of monks in the Holy Land sought formal recognition as a religious order. Their origins were mysterious, and by some accounts extended back to the time before Christ, originating in the ministry of the Biblical Prophet Elijah.

The Carmelites’ ascetic, contemplative lifestyle was combined with ardent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is she who is said to have appeared to Simon Stock, telling him to leave his hermitage and join the order that would soon be arriving with the return of two English Crusaders.
