LDS CHARITIES EQUIPS BRGY. TAMIAO OF COMPOSTELA, CEBU WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, operating through its humanitarian arm, Latter-Day Saints Charities (LDS Charities), formally donated a new computer set and printer to Barangay Tamiao in Compostela, Cebu. This project delivers essential administrative tools to improve local public service and streamline daily operations at the barangay hall.

Punong Barangay, Hon. Leilamie Talingting and her fellow barangay officials officially accepted the equipment on behalf of the community. Stake High Councilor, Brother Ericson Avendaño and his wife, Sister Windey, represented LDS Charities and the Cebu Philippines Liloan Stake during the turnover. Bishop Joseph Daffon of the Liloan 3rd Ward also attended the handover to show his support for the local partnership.

Addressing the local leaders, Brother Avendaño explained the core purpose behind the initiative. He noted that the Church views caring for the poor and helping those in need as a sacred responsibility. By focusing on practical, targeted humanitarian efforts, he emphasized that the Church works to support communities in lasting and meaningful ways.

This donation stands as a clear, impactful example of faith translated into direct community action, ensuring local leaders have the tools they need to serve their residents effectively.

The Cebu Philippines Liloan Stake joins the Cebu Provincial Government in strengthening healthcare services in Danao City.

Our Stake President, Rodolfo T. Torralba, Jr. attended the turnover of critical medical equipment donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Cebu Provincial Hospital–Danao City.

The donation—which includes an autoclave machine, electrocautery machine, suction machine, and patient monitor—supports the hospital’s ongoing recovery efforts following the impact of Typhoon Tino. These tools will help healthcare workers provide timely and life‑saving care to the community.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand with local leaders and partners in promoting resilience, compassion, and improved access to quality healthcare for all Cebuanos.

CALLED TO SERVE

President Torralba set apart Sister Boer of the Carmen Branch yesterday as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has been called to serve in Philippines Quezon City North Mission and will enter the Philippines Missionary Training Center on May 7, 2026, where she will begin her missionary service.

Prior to receiving her mission call, Sister Boer served as Young Women Secretary and in YSA Gathering Place helping YSAs to engage and gather in activities and institute classes. This service helped her to become more focus in preparing for her mission.

In her facebook post, she shared why she wanted to serve a mission;

"So I want to serve a mission because I know what it feels like to be lost. I know what it feels like to feel unworthy, unsure and alone in your faith. And I also know the indescribable relief of being welcomed back - of realizing that you never forgotten. I want to help others feel that same love. I want to testify that no one is too far, too weak, or too late to return."

"I want to serve because I love our Savior. I love Him for never giving up on me - even when I drifted. I love Him for patiently teaching me that weakness is not disqualification."

Her testimony will surely help her in serving others and the Lord.

We express our love and full support for Sister Boer as she labors in the Lord’s vineyard in Philippines Quezon City North Mission.

Serve well and return with honor!
