This beautiful view looks across the historic heart of Riga, Latvia’s capital and largest city. Founded in 1201 along the Daugava River, Riga has been an important center of trade and culture for more than eight centuries. Its remarkable historic center, with its medieval streets and outstanding architecture, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today, approximately 589,000 people live in Riga—nearly one-third of Latvia’s population. Latvia itself, one of the three Baltic nations of northern Europe, has about 1.8 million inhabitants as of the beginning of 2026.

Seventh-day Adventists have a long history here. The first Adventist church in Latvia was established in Riga in 1896, and the city became an important center for the Adventist work in this part of Europe. Today, the Latvian Conference has 50 churches and 3,321 members, and there are currently eight Adventist congregations or groups in Riga.

It is encouraging that the work continues to move forward. Earlier this year, church members and leaders gathered in Riga for Mission:Latvia, with a special emphasis on planting new congregations and reaching more people with the everlasting gospel.

Please pray for the people of Riga and all of Latvia. Pray that our members there will be filled with the Holy Spirit and strengthened to share Christ’s love, His Word, and the wonderful hope of His soon return.

Wherever you are in the world today, may you find rest, renewal, and joy in the presence of our Creator and Redeemer.

“My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him” (Psalm 62:5, NKJV).

Happy Sabbath! This is more than a pause from our routine. It is God’s invitation to place our expectations back in His hands. We worship knowing that our present belongs to Him and our future is secure in Christ.

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13, NKJV).

May this Sabbath keep that hope alive in your heart.

Maranatha!

Happy Sabbath to you and to all who are worshiping around the world today.

Children learn faith by watching it lived. Let them hear us pray. Let them see us open God’s Word. Let them witness where we turn when life feels uncertain, and where we find courage when we feel weak.

Our example can teach them that strength does not come from having every answer. It comes from trusting Jesus and depending on the Holy Spirit, one day at a time.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15, NKJV

This Sabbath, invite your children to pray with you. Let them hear you thank God, ask for His guidance, and place your worries in His hands. May our lives point them to Jesus.

We live in a world that talks about love everywhere, but often leaves us wondering what real love actually looks like.

Paul gives us a different picture.

In 1 Corinthians 13, we discover a portrait of God’s agape love: a love that is patient when it’s hard, kind when it’s easier to walk away, humble when pride wants to take over, and faithful when circumstances change.

This is not just a beautiful passage to read at weddings.

It is a call to let God transform our hearts and teach us how to love like Jesus.

This week on Hope Sabbath School, we are exploring “𝑨 𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆” and discovering how God’s love can change the way we see Him, ourselves, and the people around us.
