Today, we celebrate San Bartolome, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He faithfully preached the Gospel and courageously remained loyal to Christ. According to tradition, he suffered martyrdom for his faith, being skinned alive and beheaded for proclaiming the Gospel.

May his courage, faith, and love for Christ inspire us to remain faithful to God even in times of difficulty.

San Bartolome, faithful Apostle and martyr, pray for us! 🙏💚

The Rosary you’re praying right now could be 10× more powerful, but a few small habits might be quietly blocking its graces…

Here are some common mistakes Catholics make when praying the Rosary:

1️⃣ Rushing through the prayers like it’s a race:

We treat the Rosary like a task to “finish” quickly instead of a loving conversation with Jesus and Mary. Speeding through the Hail Marys and Our Fathers often means we miss the whole point: meditating slowly on the mysteries.

Fix: Slow down. Let each word sink in. It’s better to pray one decade well than five decades in a blur.

2️⃣ Forgetting to meditate on the mysteries:

We say the vocal prayers perfectly but our mind wanders to the grocery list, work, or tomorrow’s worries. The Rosary is contemplative—the beads and prayers help us dwell with Jesus in His life, death, and resurrection through Mary’s eyes.

Fix: Before each decade, pause and announce the mystery clearly. Picture the scene. Ask Mary to help you stay focused.

3️⃣ Praying without any specific intention:

Many of us launch into the Rosary without offering it for anything in particular—or worse, just to “get it over with.” St. Louis de Montfort warned that this turns the Rosary into a burden instead of a grace-filled gift.

Fix: Always begin with an intention: for a loved one, for peace in the world, for souls in Purgatory, for your own conversion, etc. Give it to Jesus through Mary!
----
The Rosary isn’t about perfection—it’s about perseverance and love. Even when we stumble, Our Lady takes our imperfect efforts and makes them beautiful in her Son’s hands. 💙

Which of these do you often notice in yourself or in other Catholics when praying the Rosary? Share your experiences 🙏 If you have any tips, feel free to drop them below—I’d love to learn from you!

Today, we gathered in faith and fellowship for our Basic Orientation on Youth Ministry held at Bequi-walin Elementary School.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ka-lakbay Marinel Campilla, our resource speaker, for sharing his time, knowledge, and inspiring message with our young people.

We are also grateful to our dedicated volunteers and to Bequi-walin Elementary School for generously allowing our youth to use their hall.

May this gathering inspire our young people to know Christ, love Christ, serve Christ, and share His love with others. May they continue to grow as faithful young disciples and joyful witnesses of the Gospel. 🙏❤️

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.
May Mary, our loving Mother and model of faith, lead us closer to her Son, Jesus. May her life of humility, obedience, and unwavering trust in God inspire us to faithfully follow Christ in our daily lives.

Let us pray:
🌹 O Mary, assumed into Heaven, pray for us. Guide us always toward your Son, Jesus. Help us to remain faithful in times of joy and difficulty, and teach us to say “yes” to God’s will as you did. May your maternal love bring hope, peace, and strength to our families and community. Amen.
Our Lady of the Assumption, pray for us!
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us! 🙏💙

WHY DID OUR LADY OF FATIMA APPEAR ON AUGUST 19 INSTEAD OF AUGUST 13?

The apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima are commonly associated with the 13th day of each month from May to October 1917. However, the August apparition was different.

On August 13, 1917, the three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta—were unable to meet Our Lady at the Cova da Iria because they had been taken by the local authorities for questioning.

Because of this, Our Lady appeared to the children on August 19, 1917, at Valinhos, near Fatima. The children experienced another heavenly encounter, during which Mary urged them to continue praying and making sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

This extraordinary circumstance reminds us that God’s plans are not always limited by our expectations or circumstances. Even when the children could not go to the usual place on August 13, the message of Our Lady was not prevented.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us and lead us closer to your Son, Jesus. 🙏
