In a world where s*x is often seen as a casual encounter, a fleeting pleasure without consequence, the Catholic Church's teachings on chastity and purity can seem countercultural. Yet, for those who choose to follow this path, the rewards are immeasurable.

The story of EA Guzman and Shaira Diaz is a testament to the power of love and commitment. By choosing to wait, to honor each other and God, they demonstrated that true love is not just about desire, but about discipline, respect, and unwavering commitment.

In today's world, where instant gratification is often prioritized over long-term fulfillment, their decision to practice celibacy until marriage is a beacon of hope. It shows that relationships built on mutual respect, trust, and a deep commitment to one another can thrive, even in the face of societal pressure.

The Catholic Church teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and that we should treat them with reverence and respect. By choosing to wait, EA and Shaira honored not only each other, but also their faith and their God.

Their love story is a reminder that true love is worth waiting for. It's a love that is built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and commitment. A love that honors God, each other, and themselves.

As EA beautifully reflected in his wedding vows, "We chose a path not everyone would understand. To wait. To honor God. And to honor each other by practicing purity. It wasn't always easy. But it was worth every moment."

May their story inspire us to prioritize love, respect, and commitment in our own relationships, and to remember that true love is worth waiting for.

Have you seen Ivana Alawi's recent vlog on her YouTube channel featuring devout Catholic mother and son, Ms. Candy Pangilinan and Quentin? In one part of the video, Ivana asked Quentin how he became more involved with the Church and started serving as an Altar Server. Ms. Candy explained that it was during Quentin's childhood when she frequently visited the Church, believing it was the only place where her son, who has special needs, was truly welcomed.

This only proves how the Catholic Church embraces everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.

May we be reminded that the Church is open for everyone and is willing to welcome us because, in the eyes of God, we are all special.

Have a blessed month of the Altar Servers, everyone!

Andrew Goh, an 88-year-old catechist in Singapore, has dedicated 34 years to bringing the Catholic faith to the elderly and housebound, leading more than 2,000 people to baptism. After working in insurance, Goh committed to this ministry full-time following his own baptism in 1991. Inspired by stories of Catholic adults with uninstructed, dialect-speaking parents, Goh recognized a gap in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), which largely serves only English and Mandarin speaking adults and youth, leaving elderly dialect speakers neglected, he says. In response, he started a ministry specifically for older, dialect-speaking individuals, offering prayers in hospitals, home visits, and catechism classes in parishes. Goh simplifies lessons for his elderly catechumens, using children’s books and his own illustrated materials in Mandarin and English to explain core Catholic beliefs. He currently teaches weekly at the Church of the Holy Family and the Church of St. Alphonsus (Novena Church), reaching about 30 people, including former students. In addition to these classes, he makes eight weekly house visits. Despite some attrition and conversions to other Christian denominations, Goh has baptized over 2,000 individuals and has more than 560 godchildren. Still healthy and active, he continues his ministry, traveling around Singapore on his scooter.

DANCING WITH THE DEVIL
- A Brown Scapular Miracle
By St. John Vianney (The Cure D’Ars)

St. John Vianney, the Cure D’Ars, relates a story of a young lady who, having decided to consecrate her life to religion, sought the holy pastor of Ars, Saint John Vianney, for a general confession.

When she finished relating her sins, St. John Vianney asked her if she was not forgetting something. The girl, upon recollecting her thoughts, could not recall anything else. The holy priest then proceeded to refresh her memory.

He asked her if she remembered a certain dance where she encountered a handsome young man with whom she desired to dance, but who, in turn, only danced with the other girls, passing her up.

Surprised, again she replied in the affirmative, that such was indeed true. The Cure D’Ars then asked her if she remembered how downcast she had felt at the snub, and how, upon leaving the ballroom, she had glanced back once more and had seen the young man dancing with a girl, but this time there were two small blue lights under his feet.

Again she agreed and confirmed that in fact she had seen the two blue lights under the youth’s feet, but that, finding them strange, she could not account for them.

The Saint then said: "You were hurt because this handsome, well-to-do young man had not danced with you. My dear, you should be filled with the deepest gratitude toward the Mother of God, our dear Blessed Mary ever Virgin who has so wonderfully and miraculously protected!"

The startled young penitent stuttered, "Why, whatever do you mean, Father?"

Saint John Vianney then explained to her that the young man was in fact the Devil in human form, and that the only reason why he would not dance with her was because she was wearing the holy Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

"My dear child", the holy priest responded. "that man was in reality a demon from hell and danced with every girl in serious sin. He kept away from you because you alone were wearing the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!"
