The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated every August 15, is the solemn belief of the Catholic Church that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory by the power and grace of God. Proclaimed as a dogma by Pope Pius XII in 1950, the Assumption honors Mary as the Mother of Jesus and a faithful disciple who perfectly trusted and cooperated with Godโ€™s will. Her glorification is also a sign of hope for all Christians, reminding us of the promise of resurrection and eternal life with God, and ultimately points us to Jesus Christ, through whom salvation and eternal glory are made possible.

Ayon sa tradisyon, si ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ฒ ay ipinanganak sa Montpellier, France, noong ika-14 na siglo. Iniwan niya ang kanyang marangyang buhay upang maglingkod sa mga maysakit noong panahon ng Black Death sa Europa. Habang tumutulong sa mga biktima ng salot, siya mismo ay nagkasakit at nagpakita ng malaking pagtitiwala sa Diyos.

Isa sa pinakakilalang larawan niya ay ang San Roque na may kasamang a*o, na sinasabing nagdala sa kaniya ng pagkain habang siya ay nasa pagkakahiwalay dahil sa karamdaman.
