CHURCH NEWS | Pope Leo XIV Reminds Choirs: Your Music Must Mirror the Church’s Unity

On the Solemnity of Christ the King, Pope Leo XIV reminded thousands of choristers that their music is more than performance, it is a ministry of love, unity, and prayer.

Rooted in Christ whose throne is the Cross and whose power is love, sacred music becomes the “new song” that the Risen Lord raises to the Father. As singers who walk together in hope, choristers are called to harmonize hearts, strengthen communion, and help the Church praise God as one family.

Entrusting them to St. Cecilia, the Holy Father invited all to rediscover music as a gift that expresses what words alone cannot, a song of faith that leads the world to Christ the King.

𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲:

St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians, and alsothe patron of poets, hymn writers, and singers. Legends state that she sang in her heart to God on her wedding day, and she is often depicted with an organ or other musical instruments. She is also recognized as a patron saint for France, Argentina, and the Archdiocese of Omaha.

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿:

O glorious Saint, who chose to die instead of denying your King. We pray you please to help us as His fair praise we sing! We lift our hearts in joyous song to honor Him this way. And while we sing, remembering to sing is to doubly pray. At once in our hearts and our tongues we offer double prayer Sent heavenward on winged notes to praise God dwelling there. While with our hearts and tongues we try with song to praise God twice. We ask dear Saint to help us be united close with Christ.

The Memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the moment when Mary, at age three, was presented by her parents, Joachim and Anne, in the Temple in Jerusalem as part of a vow made by her parents when they were childless. This event serves an important theological purpose. It extends the impact of previous feasts such as the Immaculate Conception and Mary's birth, emphasizing the holiness that was bestowed upon Mary from the very beginning of her earthly existence.

Oh holy Lady know that already through thy prayers the Son of God is hastening to come and redeem the world, and know that thou art the blessed one chosen to be the Mother of God, most holy Child, thou prayest for all, pray also for me. Please be informed that our Diocesan Priests, including our beloved Pastors, will be on their Annual Retreat from November 10 to November 15, 2025. Following this, they will extend their stay from November 17 to November 22, 2025.

Kindly be guided that there will be no daily Masses during the said dates. However, our parish will celebrate a Sunday Mass on November 16, 2025, at 7:00 AM only.

Nolly C. Buco, JCD, JSD, D.D., Bishop of Catarman.

Please be advised that our daily 6:00 PM Mass will be canceled to give way to this event.
