UPDATE (as of 12:10 pm of December 14): Bishop Joban’s body will be available for public viewing starting today, December 14 at 4 pm until December 16 in the Chapel of the Ascencion, The Cathedral Grottos, Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao. His remains will be brought to Antique on December 17.

Details of his wake and funeral
arrangements in Masbate will soon be posted.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DIOCESE OF MASBATE ON THE PASSING OF MOST REV. JOSE S. BANTOLO D.D.

It is with deep sorrow that the Roman Catholic Diocese of Masbate announces the passing of the MOST REVEREND JOSE SALMORIN BANTOLO D.D., Bishop of Masbate.

Bishop Bantolo was called to eternal rest on December 13, 2025 at around 10:36 pm at the age of 65.

He served the faithful of the Diocese of Masbate with devotion and grace for 14 years. We give thanks for his life of service and selfless leadership.

We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to his family and to all the faithful of Masbate.

Details of his Wake and Funeral will be announced later.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul, and souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
