Mary Immaculate Parish Nature Church

Mary Immaculate Parish Nature Church Welcome! This is the Official Page
of Mary Immaculate Parish. THE NATURE CHURCH. It is considered biggest anahaw-covered roof in the Philippines.

The church is the signature structure in the complex which spreads over a 4,000 square meter mango orchard beside a flowing creek. True to the nature concept proposed by the architect, Francisco "Bobby" Manosa, the church stands under a canopy of mango boughs, the altar section concealed from street view by thick tropical palms and plants thus providing the necessary privacy for prayer and meditat

ion. The nature concept is extensively expressed in the structure of the church itself, its furnishings and its adornments. Serving as beams and pillars to hold and support the cables which suspend an inverted funnel-shaped, canvas-covered anahaw roof are more than a half century old mango trees with six concrete posts providing added strength. The intricately woven network of 40,000 anahaw leaves can be appreciated from the inside by simple looking up to the ceiling. Warm yet soft illumination is provided by 176 capiz lanterns depicting doves in flight spiraling from the fringes to the center of the ceiling. Grouped into three sections on the wide assembly area are pews made from typhoon-felled trees strops and logs, and kneelers made from flat pieces of wood. The flooring is a patchwork of stones and wooden slabs mingling with pebble washout. The focal point of the church is the organic sanctuary, so called because it seems to have come from natural evolution. It is propped up by big boulders whose crevices serve as plant beds for ferns and creeping vines. The altar is a rough-finished coral marble slab resting on two madre cacao driftwood pedestals. Flat-topped boulders of various shapes and sizes line the altar and are used as seats by altar servers. The flooring of the altar section, similar to that of the aisles, is interplay of wood tiles from tree trunks cut crosswise and white pebble washout. Below the altar is an awe-inspiring rock garden. Rising about three meters high from altar level, its monolithic grandeur is softened by the refreshing greens of carabao grass, wild bougainvillea, pakpak lawin, and a collection of other fern varieties grown on driftwoods. A man-made waterfall cascades down the boulders to the feet of a seated marble image of Mary playing with the children, and collects in a lagoon planted with colorful water lilies at altar level. Dwarf flowering suntans and orchids add a festive air. Branches from a nearby 50-year old sampaloc tree support the image of the Crucified Christ and at the same time hover protectively over the altars cape. The ambiance created by the natural logs used in the pews is repeated in the vertically arrayed cut-logs on the walls at the right and left sides of the altar. In front of the wall on the right is situated the lector's ambo, crafted from natural twisted tree trunks and vines. Behind this wall is a cavern-like sacristy. On the other hand, the space in front of the wall on the left serves as a projection area for songs and prayers, separating the main altar from the choir section. On this wall hang driftwoods bearing sweet-scented flowering orchids, their silent fragrance courting favors from above. Tucked at the back of the sacristy, directly under the image of the Crucified Christ, is the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel where parishioners take turns in ensuring adoration from 6:00AM to 10:00PM, 7 days a week. The Blessed Sacrament is ensconced in floral mosaic, making the altar one with its surroundings.

Saint Augustine was born in Rome and died in Canterbury, England, in 604. When Pope Gregory I heard that the pagans of Britain were disposed to accept the Catholic Faith, he sent the prior of Saint Andrew, Augustine, and forty of his Benedictine brethren to England. Despite the great difficulties involved in the task assigned to him, Augustine and his monks obeyed. The success of their preaching was immediate. King Ethelbert was baptized on Pentecost Sunday, 596, and the greater part of the nobles and people soon followed his example. Saint Augustine died as the first Archbishop of Canterbury. His feast is celebrated in the Extraordinary Form on May 28.

Mettere in rilievo lโ€™altro/a
Highlighting the others

โ€œWho can give us such a big heart and stir up in us such a degree of kindness that we feel close to, and regard as neighbours, those who are least like us? Who can make us overcome our self-love, to recognize others as another โ€˜selfโ€™? It is a gift from God. It is the love of God which has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.โ€

Saint Philip Neri was one of the noble line of saints raised up by God in the sixteenth century to console and bless his Church. After a childhood of angelic beauty the Holy Spirit drew him away from Florence, the place of his birth, showed him the world, that he might freely renounce it, led him to Rome, modelled him in mind and heart and will, and then, as by a second Pentecost, came down in visible form and filled his soul with light and peace and joy. He would have gone to India, but God reserved him for Rome. There he went on simply from day to day, drawing souls to Jesus, exercising them in mortification and charity, and binding them together by cheerful devotions; thus, unconsciously to himself, under the hands of Mary, as he said, the Oratory grew up, and all Rome was pervaded and transformed by its spirit. His life was a continuous miracle, his habitual state an ecstasy. He read the hearts of men, foretold their future, knew their eternal destiny. His touch gave health of body; his very look calmed souls in trouble and drove away temptations. He was happy, genial, and irresistibly winning; neither insult nor wrong could dim the brightness of his joy.

Philip lived in an atmosphere of sunshine and gladness which brightened all who came near him. โ€œWhen I met him in the street,โ€ says one, โ€œhe would pat my cheek and say, โ€˜Well, how is Don Pellegrino?โ€™ and leave me so full of joy that I could not tell which way I was going.โ€ Others said that when he playfully pulled their hair or their ears, their hearts would bound with joy. Marcio Altieri felt such overflowing gladness in his presence that he said Philipโ€™s room was a paradise on earth. Fabrizio de Massimi would go in sadness or perplexity and stand at Philipโ€™s door; he said it was enough to see him, to be near him. And long after his death it was enough for many, when troubled, to go into his room to find their hearts lightened and gladdened. He inspired a boundless confidence and love, and was the common refuge and consoler of all. A gentle jest would convey his rebukes and veil his miracles. The highest honors sought him out, but he put them from him. He died in his eightieth year, in 1595, and bears the grand title of โ€œApostle of Rome.โ€

Essere madri/padri di tutti
To be mothers or fathers to everyone

โ€œLet us serve our neighbour better, without neglecting the โ€˜littleโ€™ things in life - like personal relationships, everyday chores in the house, helping our parents, creating peace and harmony in the family, teaching our children. Yes, no matter how things turn out for us, let us remember that Christianity means loving, and in a special way preferring the least.โ€

Pentecost Sunday is celebrated fifty days after Easter and marks the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, as described in Acts 2:1โ€“11. Often called the โ€œbirthday of the Church,โ€ Pentecost signifies the fulfillment of Christโ€™s promise to send the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen, and sanctify His followers.

Theologically, Pentecost reveals the active presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church. Through the Spirit, the Apostles received courage and wisdom to proclaim the Gospel boldly to all nations. The descent of the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire symbolizes purification, divine power, and the universal mission of the Church.

Pentecost also emphasizes the unity of believers despite differences in language and culture, showing that the Church is called to gather all people into communion with God. The gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit continue to guide Christians in living lives of holiness, service, and faithful witness to Christ.

This solemnity reminds the faithful to remain open to the Spiritโ€™s guidance, allowing God to renew their hearts and empower them to become instruments of peace, truth, and love in the world.

You know, my God,
that I love you
Tu lo sai, mio Dio, che ti voglio bene

Choose God once more as the
center of our life, as 'everything'
for us, putting him back in the first
place, living his will with perfection
in the present moment. We should
be able to tell him sincerely: 'My
God and my all, I love you,' I am
all yours,' You are God, you are my
God, our God of infinite love!'

Saint Rita of Cascia was born Margherita Lotti in 1381. She was married at an early age and remained married for 18 years until the death of her husband due to inter-familial feuds. She is remembered for her Christian values as a model wife and mother who made efforts to convert her husband from his abusive behavior. After her husbandโ€™s murder, she sought to dissuade her sons from revenge.

She joined an Augustinian community of religious sisters, where she was known both for practicing mortification of the flesh and her deep prayer life. Various miracles are attributed to her intercession, and she is often portrayed with a bleeding wound on her forehead, which is understood to indicate a partial stigmata. She died on 22 May 1457.

She was canonized in 1900 by Pope Leo XIII, and at her canonization she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes, while in many Catholic countries, Rita came to be known to be as the patroness of abused wives and heartbroken women.
