August 11 | Memorial of St. Clare of Assisi, Virgin

St. Clare of Assisi (July 16, 1194 – August 11, 1253) was a medieval Italian noblewoman who left her wealthy life behind to become a follower of St. Francis of Assisi. She founded the Poor Clares, wrote their groundbreaking monastic rule, and is the patron saint of television and eye disorders.

O glorious Saint Clare, God has given you the power of working miracles continually, and the favor of answering the prayers of those who invoke your assistance in misfortune, anxiety, and distress.

We beseech you, obtain for us from Jesus through Mary, His Blessed Mother, what we beg of you so fervently and hopefully, (here mention your need privately) if it be for the greater honor and glory of God and the good of our souls. Amen.

August 10 | Memorial of St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr

The Feast of Saint Lawrence is celebrated every August 10. It honors a 3rd-century Roman deacon and martyr known for caring for the poor. When ordered to surrender church wealth, he presented the poor and sick as the true treasures of the Church, leading to his martyrdom by roasting on a gridiron.

O God, giver of that ardor of love for you by which Saint Lawrence was outstandingly faithful in service and glorious in martyrdom, grant that we may love what he loved and put into practice what he taught. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

August 8 | Feast of St. Dominic, Priest

August 8 is the feast day of St. Dominic de Guzmán, the Spanish priest who founded the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in the 13th century. He is celebrated for his deep love of truth, rigorous academic and spiritual formation, fierce defense of the faith through education and compassion, and popularizing the Holy Rosary.

Pray for us, blessed father, St. Dominic, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray, O most enlightened teacher of divine truth, Holy Father St. Dominic, who taught what was profitable for salvation and made yourself all things to all men, that you might win all to Christ; help us to close our ears and hearts to all false doctrine and whatever may be harmful to our souls and to open them joyfully to the truths of Holy Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

This evening we will have the opportunity to pray, reflect, and have a minute to talk to Jesus. Who is present in the Holy Sacrament, (Monstrance).

We also dedicate our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jeaus every Friday. May we get more closer to Jesus in the Holy Hour.

Let us adore him, with wholeheartedly as we feel his presence in every way, especially in the Holy Mass.

August 7 | Memorial of Pope St. Sixtus II, & Companions Martyrs

Pope Saint Sixtus II and his companions were martyred on August 6, 258 AD, during the intense Christian persecutions of Roman Emperor Valerian. Arrested while preaching and celebrating Mass in the catacombs of Rome, Sixtus willingly offered his life to protect his flock and was beheaded alongside several deacons.

Pope Saint Sixtus II, you walked in the shoes of Saint Peter, also dying a martyr’s death in that same city. You did not fear dying but only feared deviating from the merciful truths that make us one in Christ. Please pray for me, that I will courageously follow your example by laying down my life for others in every way I am able. Saint Sixtus II, pray for me. Jesus, I trust in You.

August 6 | Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

Today, August 6, 2026, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The Gospel reading is Matthew 17:1-9, where Jesus shines with heavenly light on the mountain [13.3]. The Alleluia verse is: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased: listen to him." (Matthew 17:5).

The Gospel passage recounts Jesus taking Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where His face shines like the sun and His clothes become dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appear, talking with Him. A bright cloud overshadows them, and the Father’s voice rings out with the exact words of the acclamation: "This is my beloved Son... listen to him".

The acclamation is not just a greeting before the Gospel; it is the core message of the entire feast. It bridges heaven and earth, commanding us to turn our focus entirely upon Christ.
