A jubilant atmosphere encompassed the parish as it welcomed the Miraculous Patroness of Kawit, Cavite–Santa Maria Magdalena de Kawit on February 28, 2026, Saturday. The Lakbay Paraluman is a sacred pilgrimage initiated by the image’s diocesan shrine and parish with the purpose of spreading the good news of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The word paraluman is a Filipino word which directly translates to “muse” or “beautiful lady.” In this context, it is used to describe St. Mary Magdalene as a captivating woman and devoted follower of The Messiah. With that being said, her image is greatly venerated because Emilio Aguinaldo, first President of the Philippines, which presided in Kawit, Cavite honored her image through naming his group after her and offering it to her, placing it under her patronage.

The wooden image itself depicts St. Mary Magdalene, with her left hand holding a cross representing her major role in Jesus’ crucifixion & resurrection, and her right hand holding an alabaster jar of perfume—symbolizing the biblical event wherein she anointed His feet (Lk 7:38). Another noticeable aspect of her image is the mole in the middle of her forehead; while the history of this mark is not confirmed, it is believed to be the mark left by Jesus after His resurrection when He placed His fingertip on her forehead and said “Touch me not” (John 20:17).

As the image departed from Nuestra Señora de Regla, parishioners and ministers of Christ danced along with her image as a vibrant and jovial pronouncement of faith and devotion. Let us reflect on this pilgrimage as a way of knowing more of the Gospel through the veneration of saints and living a life like theirs—guided by Christ.

On January 31, 2026, the Cofradia of Nuestra Señora de Regla had the privilege of spending time with our brothers and sisters at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail. It was a day filled with simple gifts, but more importantly, the gift of presence, conversation, and shared prayer.

May we always remember that in every act of service, we encounter the face of Christ. Thank you to everyone who shared their time and resources to make this outreach possible.

This morning’s 8 AM Votive Mass marked the first Acceptance of Members into the Cofradia de los Devotos de Nuestra Señora de Regla. Presided by our Parish Priest and Shrine Rector, Rev. Fr. Benido Tumol, MSC, the celebration reaffirmed our mission: to spread devotion to Our Lady of the Rule.

After the installation, we shared a blessed time of fellowship at the Pilgrim Center grounds, strengthening our unity as one community of faith.

Congratulations to our new members! May you be inspired to carry Mary’s love and grace into the world.
