Memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church

Mommy’s Here

And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple tookher into his home. – John 19:27 (NLT)
Whenever I get home, I open the gate of our house and say, “Mommy’s here!” Our children, especially the little ones, would jump up and down and shout, “Mommy’s here!”

The funny thing was, my three- year-old boy started to call me “Mommy’s here.” When he needs me, when he’s scared, when he wants something, he shouts, “Mommy’s here!” For him, “Mommy” equals to “Mommy’s here.”

In today’s Gospel, Jesus assured His disciples that Mary is also their mother. As Mama Mary loved and cared for Jesus, so will she love and care for His followers. And that includes us.

When life’s cross is too much to handle or when we just need someone to laugh and cry with, Jesus tells us that we have a loving mother, ready to comfort and pray for us. She opens her heart and says, “Don’t worry, Mommy’s here.” Mia Bueno ([email protected])

How often do you pray the rosary? I encourage you to start the habit of praying the rosary every day. Let Mama Mary’s mantle of love and protection guide your way.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Novena in Honor of Virgen dela Regla

Daily Prayer

Our sovereign Queen and Mother, Our Lady of the Rule, trusting in your motherly love for me I humbly kneel before you, the fount of goodness and mercy. Be my advocate and protector against all ills and miseries, I implore your mercy never to ignore my afflictions that presently torments my soul. Show yourself as a tender mother. Make me your worthy child as I purified my sins through the veneration of your Miraculous Image of the Rule. Refuse not my petition. Your generously aid and protect those who take refuge from you. Help me to be humble and grateful child always as I walk along the part of perfection, following the steps of your Divine son. May I rejoice with you in His presence in the everlasting glory of heaven. Amen.

Day 4 Prayer

Our Lady of Rule, whom God has made the Refuge of Sinners, in you I place all my hope. Throughout life I am surrounded by misfortunes and privations that keep me in continuous unrest but God gave you dear Lady who has been merciful and kind, ever ready to keep me from evil and to gather all unfortunates under your loving mantle. Enrich my soul with your grace and give me back the spiritual riches that I have lost. Obtain for me the grace I ask of you today. (Pause and mention your petitions) Amen.

Nuestra Señora dela Regla, pray for us.

SURRENDER ALL OVER AGAIN

And he was heard because of his reverent submission. – Hebrews 5:7

It was a busy Lenten season because of work, so I took time off for a whole day of prayer in the middle of my hectic schedule. I did the Visita Iglesia by myself and went to seven churches close to my heart. These were my go-to comfort places whenever I was at my lowest point and my happy places whenever I was high in thanksgiving.

I sat and prayed inside every church while replaying many memories in my head. Each church represented a story of God’s faithfulness to me that goes back to my days as a student, my early years at work, my first heartbreak, fulfilled dreams, and many more. That day, I chose to celebrate God’s faithfulness in my life because I needed to refill my hope tank and believe that, indeed, better days are coming.

In our journey as Christians, I learned that we need to pause to gain a clearer understanding of who God is and who we are. This leads us in desperation to the Cross of Jesus and a deeper appreciation of His love for us. However simple you want to do this, whether in prayer or through a pilgrimage, will surely help you increase your faith and joy in whatever season you are in your life. Reflect: Look back at the times you surrendered to God and see how greatly He moved when you let Him work out His plans for you.

Lord, when I stray, pull me back to Your embrace. Help me surrender to Your plans over and over again.
