January 9, 2026

During his homily, Fr. Potenciano Dulay emphasized that a cross without Christ, and a Christ without the Cross, is incomplete. He reminded the faithful that the Cross symbolizes our sufferings—burdens that Christ Himself carries with us.

On the same day, St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Laoang joyfully commemorated the feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. In unity with the Hijos and Hijas of Laoang chapter and the devoted parishioners, the community came together to celebrate the Holy Mass. Despite the heavy rains, the faithful remained steadfast, offering prayers and deep devotion— a true testament to their unwavering faith and commitment to the Nazareno.

On October 3, 2025, the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno Laoang Chapter welcomed new members, with 17 Hijos and 33 Hijas installed.

In his homily, Fr. Roberto Cisneros, pastor moderator of Cawayan, reminded us that the cross is not only a symbol of sacrifice but also a beacon of hope. Our devotion to Jesus Nazareno mirrors the cross—when we walk in faith and hope, we can be assured that God will always be with us.

On April 5, 2025, the NPJN-Laoang Chapter concluded its apostolate mission in Brgy. Sangcol, marking both the end of their service in the community and the celebration of their first anniversary as Hijos and Hijas.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ryan Paul Opeña reminded them that while their mission in Brgy. Sangcol has come to an end, it should serve as a call to remain steadfast in their faith and to continue paying it forward to others.

Though this chapter has closed, may it also signify the beginning of a new journey—one where they continue to be a blessing to those around them.

After a meaningful session of reflection and discussion, the recollection concluded with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Ryan Paul G. Opeña.

The Gospel focused on the story of the Prodigal Son, which Fr. Ryan emphasized in his homily. He reflected on how, in life, we sometimes resemble the eldest son—diligent and hardworking—while at other times, we are like the younger son, making mistakes and straying from the right path. He reminded everyone to appreciate the love of the Father, who, despite his sons’ faults and imperfections, embraced them with unconditional love and acceptance. In the same way, no matter how many sins or mistakes we make, God welcomes us with open arms and a heart full of love.

Together with the Confraternity of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno - Laoang Chapter, devotees, and faithful parishioners, St. Michael the Archangel Parish joyfully celebrates the Feast of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno today, January 9, 2025.

In his homily, Fr. Giovanni reflected on the profound meaning of the sacred image. He emphasized that it reminds us of Christ’s enduring love for us. The cross serves as a symbol that, even amidst suffering and hardship, He chose to love us unconditionally. Fr. Giovanni likened this to the essence of devotion, where, despite challenges like heavy rain and struggles, devotees remain steadfast in their faithfulness to the Lord.
