Young LGBTIQ+ leaders and allies of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente will gather via Zoom on May 17 for Bahaghari Conversations 2021: Human & Blessed. Join them as they tackle the situation of LGBTIQ+ individuals and their God-given dignity in time for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT)!
Speaking at the event are:
• Justin Francis Bionat. He is currently the executive director of Youth Voices Count, a network for adolescent and youth LGBTIQ+ individuals based in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also a board member of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) committee and a youth council member of the Global Fund.
• Rev. Joseph San Jose. He is an ordained and licensed clergy of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), the first Christian denomination founded in the affirming ministry for LGBTIQ+ people by LGBTIQ+ people of faith. He is now the local church pastor of Open Table MCC. In 2019, he was part of the Community Solutions Program in the United States and received a leadership certification from IREX and George Mason University.
This year’s Bahaghari Conversations is a partnership among the Ramento Project for Rights Defenders, the Youth of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente and the National Council of Churches in the Philippines. For years now, the event has gathered, celebrated and motivated LGBTIQ+ individuals and advocates in the IFI.
