August 23 | 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today’s Gospel invites us to reflect on a deeply personal question from Jesus: “Who do you say that I am?” Like Peter, we are called not only to know Jesus in our minds but to recognize Him in our hearts as the Christ, the Son of the living God.

In a world filled with many voices, may we always have the courage and faith to proclaim who Jesus is in our lives. And like Peter, may we remain faithful to the mission entrusted to us, becoming instruments of faith, hope, and love.

AUGUST 16 | 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today, we are reminded that genuine faith does not give up when prayers seem unanswered or when the road becomes difficult. Like the woman in the Gospel, may we approach Jesus with humility, courage, and a heart that continues to trust.

Her faith teaches us that God sees the sincerity of a heart that perseveres. May we never lose hope, but continue to believe that in His perfect time, God’s grace will unfold.

Lord, increase our faith, strengthen our hearts, and teach us to trust You even when we cannot yet see the answer.

LOOK | PRELATURE YOUTH MINISTRY MEETING

Yesterday, our parish joyfully welcomed youth coordinators from different parishes, together with the Formation Team, for a fruitful meeting focused on updates, plans, and the continuing mission of the Prelature Youth Ministry.

It was a blessed time of sharing, collaboration, and strengthening our commitment to guide and empower the youth in faith, leadership, and service.

United in Christ, we continue to build bridges of hope, foster meaningful connections, and nurture the next generation of faithful and servant leaders.

you offered yourself to the Father on the altar of the cross and through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit gave your priestly people a share in your redeeming sacrifice.
Hear our prayer for the sanctification of our priests. Grant that all who are ordained to the ministerial priesthood may be ever more conformed to you, the Divine Master.
May they preach the Gospel with pure heart and clear conscience. Let them be shepherds according to your own heart, single-minded in service to you and to the Church, and shining examples of a holy, simple, and joyful life.
Through the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, your Mother and ours, draw all priests and the flocks entrusted to their care to the fullness of eternal life where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

AUGUST 12 | SCHOOL MASS

Today, the CNHS Students and Teaching Staff gathered as one family in faith.
Beyond books and classrooms, we came together to pause, to pray, and to be reminded of what truly matters.
In every prayer, we found strength. In every song, we found unity. In every blessing, we found guidance for the school year ahead.
May this Holy Mass be the foundation of wisdom, compassion, and excellence that we carry in our hearts.

AUGUST 09 | 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gathered together as one family, today the Word of God reminds us: “Do not be afraid, take courage; it is I.”

Sometimes, or most of the time, we become like Peter. We step out in faith, trusting God, but when the storms become stronger and the waves begin to rise, fear takes over. We lose focus, doubt ourselves, and sometimes even forget that Jesus is already there with us.

Yet, in the midst of every storm, Jesus continues to remind us not to be afraid. He calls us to keep our eyes fixed on Him and to trust that His presence is greater than whatever troubles we may face.

Faith does not mean that we will never be afraid. It means choosing to trust God even when we are afraid. When we feel like we are sinking, may we remember to reach out to Jesus and say, “Lord, save me.”

May we have the courage to keep walking in faith, knowing that we are never alone. In every storm, every uncertainty, and every moment of fear, Jesus is with us.

Take courage. Do not be afraid. It is I.

Seminarian Jerrold Ablong Rago, 30 years of age, son of Protocendo Catada Rago and Marilou Ablong Rago, is to be ordained to the Order of Deacons on 19 September 2026, by Most Rev. Leo M. Dalmao, CMF, D.D., at San Vicente Ferrer Parish, Matarling, Lantawan Municipality, Basilan Province, at 9:00 in the morning.

If anyone knows of any impediment regarding the scheduled Diaconal Ordination, please do not hesitate to inform the Parish Priest or the Bishop of Basilan.

AUGUST 05 | STREET MASS

The faithful of Zone 3 – Calle Bisaya gathered as one family in faith to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, presided over by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Victor E. Tordillo Jr.

Today’s Gospel reminds us of the unwavering faith of the Canaanite woman. Her persistence and complete trust in Jesus teach us that sincere faith never goes unheard. As we continue our journey as one parish community, may we remain steadfast in prayer, confident in God’s mercy, and open to His grace, knowing that He always hears the cries of those who seek Him with humble and faithful hearts.

May this Street Mass strengthen our unity, deepen our faith, and inspire every family in Zone 3 to continue walking together with Christ.

AUGUST 02 | 18TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Today’s Gospel reminds us that true fulfillment is not found in earthly wealth but in Christ, the Bread of Life. Just as Jesus took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and shared it, we too are called to offer our lives in service to God and others.

May we allow ourselves to be blessed by God’s grace, broken in humility and compassion, and shared through acts of love, generosity, and faithful service. In giving ourselves to others, we become living witnesses of Christ’s presence in the world.
