| PARISH PATRONAL FIESTA 2026

As we celebrate the 292nd Patronal Fiesta 2026 in honor of Sts. Philip and James, the apostles, we are reminded that this is more than a festivityβ€”it is a call to return to the heart of our faith.

β€œWhoever has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
In Christ’s words to Philip, we are invited to recognize God not in distant signs, but in the very presence of Jesusβ€”alive in His Word, in the Eucharist, and in one another.

St. James teaches us, β€œFaith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.” (James 2:17)
A faith worth celebrating is a faith that is livedβ€”a faith that reaches out, forgives, serves, and loves without condition.

For 292 years, this community has stood as a witness to that living faith. Through every generation, the lives of Sts. Philip and James echo in our own: called to follow, to believe even without seeing, and to become instruments of Christ’s love in the world.

As we rejoice in this Patronal Fiesta, may we not only honor them with our voices, but imitate them with our livesβ€”becoming bearers of the Gospel in our time.

| VESPERAS 2026

β€œCome and see.” (John 1:46)
In these words of St. Philip, we are gently invited to encounter Christβ€”not only in grand celebrations, but in the silent prayers of the heart, in the fading light of day, and in the ordinary moments where God quietly reveals Himself.

St. James reminds us: β€œDraw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

This Vesperas is a call to that closenessβ€”to pause, to listen, and to allow our faith to deepen beyond words, becoming a lived response to God’s presence.

For 292 years, this sacred tradition has gathered generations into one faith, one hope, and one love.

May the witness of Sts. Philip and James lead us to a faith that sees beyond sight and acts beyond comfortβ€”a faith rooted in Christ, alive in love, and steadfast in every season.

FIRST SUNDAY REMINDER: UNANG LINGGO NG BUWAN BUKAS! SIMBA TAYO!

πŸ“ŒFEATURED PARISH: Sts. Philip and James the Apostles Church, Lagonoy, Camarines Sur

The Saints Philip and James the Apostles Church in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, Philippines, is a 19th-century Roman Catholic church with a rich and complex history. Franciscan missionaries arrived in the Lagonoy Gulf in the 17th century, and the town’s name is believed to have come from either hagonoy, a medicinal plant, or lango, meaning β€œdrunken.” The church was formally founded on August 1, 1734, and became a parish in 1764, during a time when the area, known as Partido de Lagonoy, covered a vast territory that would later be divided into towns such as Tigaon, Goa, San Jose, and Presentacion. An early stone church completed in 1768 was destroyed by flooding, leaving only the bell tower ruins, while a later structure built in 1885 in San Isidro Sur was eventually abandoned. The present stone church, constructed in 1874 in Santa Maria, stands today as a witness to these developments. During the Philippine Revolution, the parish came under the influence of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, as its priest, Fr. Vicente Ramirez, supported the movement of Fr. Gregorio Aglipay for an independent Filipino church and later became its first bishop; although Aglipayan adherents once took over the church, a court ruling led by Bishop Jorge I. Barlin restored it to Roman Catholic authority. The church also endured damage from Typhoon Harriet in 1960, particularly its roof, which was later repaired under the leadership of Fr. Pedro Relloso.

The Vicarial Conference of Youth Ministers (VCYM) β€” Vicariate of St. John the Baptist was more than just a conference. It was a safe space, a calling, and a renewal of purpose for our youth delegates from Sts. Philip and James the Apostles Parish Youth Ministry.

From overcoming fear and uncertainty, to discovering the deep joy of being truly heard and never judged β€” our delegates came back not just with learnings, but with transformed hearts.
They were reminded that the youth are not merely participants in the Church β€” they are a vital and powerful part of it, called to serve, inspire, and make a difference.

Through VCYM, our voices were heard. Our faith was strengthened. And our mission became clearer than ever.
"Bako lang palan kaming participants β€” kami palan ay dakulang parte kan Simbahan."

To our delegates Maienne, Rachelle Mae, Ashley, and Muren Crissel β€” thank you for carrying the heart of our parish youth ministry with courage and conviction. πŸ’›

STS. PHILIP AND JAMES THE APOSTLES PARISH|VICARIAL CONFERENCE FOR YOUTH MINISTERS

More than a conferenceβ€”it was a moment of grace.

Our Youth Ministers didn't just showed up, spoke up, and made their voices count. For the first time at the table with fellow youth ministers across the vicariate, their stories were shared, their hearts were heard, and their voices truly mattered.

Something beautiful happens when youth ministers from different parishes gathered togetherβ€”burdens are lightened, friendships rooted in faith are born, and the reminder sinks in that none of us walks this mission alone.

They came carrying the heart of Parish Youth Ministry of Sts. Philip and Jamesβ€”and left carrying the whole vicariate in their hearts. From sharing experiences to exchanging wisdom, from honest converstaions to moments of prayerβ€”every single part if it mattered.

The Church listens when you speak, and the world needs your fire. Katood: Gabos Kaayon, Gabos may Gibuhon.
