“Creating an Awesome Family”
– Rev. Jireh John Francia
Homebuilders Fellowship Sunday
Baptist Center Church
During Homebuilders Sunday, Pastor Jireh Francia shared a very practical and heartfelt message about what it means to build an “awesome” family. He reminded us that strong families don’t just happen on their own but are shaped by the choices we make every day.
1. Awesome Families Are Playful
Pastor Jireh began by talking about the importance of joy at home. He asked us to think about the fun things we do with our families, because the activities we share reflect the kind of family we are becoming. The word “together” mattered a lot in his message. It encompasses spending time, enjoying one another, laughing, and simply being present.
Scriptures like 1 Timothy 6:17 and Ecclesiastes 9:9 remind us that God actually wants us to enjoy life with our loved ones.
2. Awesome Families Encourage Growth
He then highlighted that healthy families help each other grow. Using Luke 2:52, he explained the four areas where Jesus Himself matured—mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially—and said these are the same areas we should nurture within our homes.
Pastor pointed out that we grow best when we learn from one another’s example and through real conversations. He also warned against two habits that destroy growth: constant criticism and comparing family members to others. These don’t help; they hurt.
3. Awesome Families Protect Each Other
Drawing from Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, Pastor Jireh reminded us that families are meant to be a shelter. He asked, “Why do you love your family so much?” and the simple answer is, because they take care of us.
Families protect each other in many ways, especially during moments of change, or seasons when someone feels rejected or forgotten. He reminded us to watch out not only for children, but also for the elderly who may quietly feel left behind (Psalm 71:9).
4. Awesome Families Serve God and Others
Finally, Pastor Jireh emphasized that awesome families serve God together. He encouraged parents to teach their children that they were shaped by God with a purpose: to love, serve, and make a difference.
He highlighted the importance of showing dedication, commitment, and hospitality in our homes. When families choose to serve God intentionally—just like Joshua declared in Joshua 24:15—it strengthens relationships and unites the household.
He reminded us through Acts 16:31–33 that change in a home often begins with just one person’s step of faith. It starts with you!
The message of the Lord through Pastor Jack was a reminder that building a meaningful family life isn’t about having perfect circumstances, but about choosing the right priorities! Pastor Jireh encouraged us to slow down, enjoy our loved ones, and create memories with them. He challenged us to speak words that help each other grow, to make our homes places of safety, and to intentionally serve God side by side.
May we reflect on the small things—how we talk to the people we love, how often we make time for them, and whether our actions point them closer to Christ.
An “awesome family” is not built in a day. It’s built in moments—moments of joy, patience, forgiveness, and service. And with God at the center, those moments become the foundation of a home that lasts.
A blessed Sunday to all from the BCC Homebuilders Fellowship!
