16th IFI GENERAL ASSEMBLY | Iloilo City

“Sustained by Grace, Nurtured by Faith, Sent forth in Mission” Ephesians 2:8-10

Day 1 : Highlights

The General Assembly opened with the Holy Eucharist at the IFI Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace & Good Voyage La Paz, Ilo-ilo. It was celebrated by His Eminence Joel O. Porlares Obispo Maximo XIV together with the recent Obispo Maximos of the IFI (OM Timbang, OM David, OM Fajutagana).

In the afternoon, the assembly started with the roll call of the official delegates by the General Secretary Rt. Rev. Dindo Ranojo from all the IFI Dioceses in the Philippines and abroad. Sectors of the YIFI, WOPIC, LIFI, NPO and Bishops were present to every dioceses to make sure they are all represented.

The first day ended with a Welcome Night and Opening Salvo from the host diocese - Diocese of Iloilo.

“Paano natin maipapakita ang ating pagiging lingkod sa mga kapatid natin sa mga mahihirap na komunidad na nauuhaw sa pagkalinga ng simbahan?” asked Rev. Mary Grace Masegman, outgoing Governor General of the National Priests Organization, during her homily at the Mass on May 7.

“Ang pagiging lingkod ay hindi lamang makikilala sa mga salitang lumalabas sa ating mga bibig upang ipahayag ang mabuting balita at mensaheng mula sa Diyos, kundi nangangahulugan din ito ng pagkilos upang higit na madama ng tao ang presensya at pag-ibig ng Diyos.”

EPISCOPAL CONSECRATION & INSTALLATION
April 19, 2026

With hearts overflowing with gratitude, we warmly celebrate and congratulate The Right Reverend Jonash A. Joyohoy on his Episcopal Consecration and Installation as the First Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of La Castellana.

This milestone stands as a powerful witness to God’s faithfulness and divine calling. Through years of humble service, steadfast faith, and unwavering dedication to the mission of the Church, Bishop Jonash has been entrusted with a greater responsibility—to shepherd God’s people with wisdom, compassion, and truth.

His consecration marks not only a personal journey of vocation fulfilled, but also a new chapter in the life of our Diocese—a chapter rooted in hope, unity, and strengthened pastoral leadership. It is a moment of grace that reminds us that God continues to raise faithful servants to lead His Church and guide His people.

As clergy, laity, youth, and faithful members of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente gather in prayer and thanksgiving, we stand united in support of our new bishop and in celebration of this blessed occasion.
