I keep asking God for peace, but how often do I hurt Him by not doing what He says?

I ask for His love, but I keep my heart away from the One who loved me first.

I ask for joy, but I keep doing the very sins that caused Jesus to die on the cross.

It is selfish to keep asking God for things that make me feel good, while giving Him so little of what He deserves.
The Apostle Paul gave a very serious warning:
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;" (Romans 1:18)

Think about that.
We talk a lot about God's love, mercy, and blessings. But do we remember that God is holy? That He is angry at sin? He is not happy when His children dishonor Him while still expecting Him to be good to them.

Many people want God's help but do not want to follow His rules. They want His promises but stay away from His commands. They want to go to Heaven but do not want to live a holy life.

We cry out,
"Lord, give me peace."
But are we giving Him our obedience?

We cry out,
"Lord, give me joy."
But are we living in a way that makes Him proud?

We cry out,
"Lord, bless me."
While we secretly love the things He died to save us from.

Paul also wrote:
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" (Romans 6:1-2)

Yet, many people who call themselves Christians have become comfortable with a faith that costs them nothing. No praying. No reading the Bible. No caring for the lost. No holiness. No surrender. Then we wonder why we feel so far away from God.

The truth is hard to hear:
God is not forced to make us comfortable while we keep making excuses for our sin.

Jesus Himself said:
"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)

That question is still important today.
Why do we sing about Him but not obey Him? Why do we ask for blessings but ignore His voice? Why do we want His peace but refuse to be corrected?

The biggest tragedy is not losing money or friends. The biggest tragedy is getting so comfortable with God that we lose our respect for Him.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

This is not a time to play with sin. This is not a time for weak faith. This is not a time for a "comfortable" Christianity.

Because one day we will stand before the God whose eyes are like fire.
On that day, the question will not be:
"How much peace did you get from Me?"
But maybe:
"How much of your heart did you truly give to Me?"

Let us stop asking God only for peace and joy, while keeping back the worship and obedience He deserves. A person who only takes from God but refuses to truly belong to Him has forgotten who God is.
God is love, but He is also holy. God is merciful, but He is also a just judge. The God who comforts us is also the God who says:
"Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16)

Check your heart before you ask for another blessing. Ask yourself: "Am I giving God what He is worthy to receive?"
